Don Spike, who was sentenced to prison for possession of a large amount of drugs and habitual use, has reportedly finished his sentence and is running a restaurant.
Don Spike was arrested in September 2022 at a motel in Gangnam, Seoul, on charges of drug possession and use. His total methamphetamine use was revealed to be 14 times, and it is reported that he handed methamphetamine and ecstasy to others a total of 7 times. Additionally, he was accused of possessing approximately 20 grams of methamphetamine.
Don Spike acknowledged all charges in court, stating in his final plea, "I have forgotten that I should be a model of society and have caused great pain and disappointment to my family and many supporters who love me. It is my fault, and there is no room for excuses. I deeply feel how serious my mistakes are and am sincerely reflecting on them. I will recover from addiction and strive to become a model of society without reoffending again."
Don Spike was sentenced to 3 years in prison and 5 years of probation in the first trial. The prosecution appealed, arguing that the sentence was too lenient, and in the second trial, he received a 2-year prison sentence. Don Spike appealed the 2-year prison sentence, but the Supreme Court did not accept it, making the prison sentence final.
The Supreme Court noted, "There was no error in violating the logic and experience of the original judgment or misunderstanding the law regarding illegally obtained evidence."
Having received a prison sentence, Don Spike was released into society earlier this month, and it is reported that he is participating in managing a restaurant located in Yongsan, Seoul, while taking time for self-reflection.
Meanwhile, Don Spike is a composer and singer who debuted in 1996. He gained recognition for arranging the stage for "I Am a Singer" and has appeared in various entertainment shows, including "My Little Old Boy." However, following the revelation of his drug use allegations, the entertainment shows he had appeared in chose to remove his segments in a move to cut ties with him.
