This spring, the highly anticipated film ‘The Match’ and the upcoming April release ‘Lobby’ are generating excitement as directors making a long-awaited comeback amplify the expectations of potential audiences.
This spring, there is considerable anticipation surrounding directors returning to theaters with a diverse array of works. The protagonists are Kim Hyeong-joo, the director of ‘The Match,’ and Ha Jung-woo, the director of ‘Lobby.’
First, the film ‘The Match,’ which will be released on March 26 (Wed), tells the story of Korea’s top Go legend Jo Hun-hyeon (Lee Byung-hun) who, after losing a match to his disciple, challenges the peak once again with his innate competitive spirit. ‘The Match’ is directed by Kim Hyeong-joo, a member of Yoon Jong-bin’s team. Having solidified his skills by working as an assistant director and in various directing roles in diverse works, including Yoon Jong-bin’s ‘Kundo: Age of the Rampant,’ Kim Hyeong-joo presents his new work for the first time in eight years since ‘The Outlaws.’
Director Kim Hyeong-joo delicately portrayed the perseverance of Go legend Jo Hun-hyeon (Lee Byung-hun) and the joys and sorrows of loss and victory in the world of competition. Additionally, regarding the film ‘The Match,’ he expressed unique confidence, stating, “It is a film that you can enjoy following, even if you don’t know Go,” making it a must-see film this spring for potential audiences.
Next, on April 2 (Wed), Ha Jung-woo’s ‘Lobby’ will be released. ‘Lobby’ is a story of the startup CEO Chang-wook (Ha Jung-woo), who knows only about research, starting his first-ever lobbying golf in order to secure a 4 trillion won national project. Ha Jung-woo took on both directing and starring roles, and as this is a new work from Ha Jung-woo, who has shown remarkable skills in both acting and directing, expectations are rising for this ultimate comedy by Ha Jung-woo.
As such, with Kim Hyeong-joo’s ‘The Match’ and Ha Jung-woo’s ‘Lobby,’ a variety of Korean films are being released this spring. The film ‘The Match,’ which will captivate audiences with the impressive acting of Korea’s representative actor Lee Byung-hun, is set to premiere nationwide on March 26 (Wed).
