Actress Baek Ji-won moved viewers to tears.

In the second act of the Netflix series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' (written by Lim Sang-chun / directed by Kim Won-seok / produced by Fan entertainment and Baram Pictures), released on 14th, Baek Ji-won made viewers cry and laugh as the haenyeo aunt 'Hong Kyung-ja,' who accompanies O Ae-soon (played by IU) through her joys and sorrows.

Baek Ji-won, with a tsundere tone, seems to grumble at first glance, but she supports Ae-soon’s heart and faithfully stands by her side in place of the deceased Jeon Gwang-rye (played by Yeom Hye-ran).

When Ae-soon’s family bought a boat, Baek Ji-won confidently confronted Ae-soon’s mother-in-law, who only looked down on her, and gently scraped the male prejudice of Jeon Sang-gil (played by Choi Dae-hoon), actively supporting Ae-soon. Each time she appeared, Baek Ji-won provided refreshing moments, bringing great laughter to viewers.

Meanwhile, faced with the death of Yang Dong-myeong (played by Shin Sae-byeok), Baek Ji-won evoked viewers’ tears with her performance, which conveyed a full range of emotions including anger and compassion towards Ae-soon, without any lines, as she looked at the devastated Ae-soon and Yang Kwan-sik (played by Park Bo-gum).

Later, watching Ae-soon and Kwan-sik come out to the sea despite losing their child, Baek Ji-won sprinkled alcohol toward the sea, saying, 'Our dragon king shouldn’t have taken everything in Ae’s hands,' and 'It feels like they throw it back to say not to die,' perfectly embodying the complex emotions of despair and hope, anger and resignation, leaving a lasting impression.

Baek Ji-won has been praised for increasing the immersion of the drama with her high synchronicity with Kyung-ja and her unique tone, as well as her detailed expressiveness that does not overlook any aspect.

Meanwhile, the Netflix series ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines,’ featuring Baek Ji-won, is set to release its third act on the 21st.
