SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama "Haunted Palace" features Yook Sung-jae transforming into the 'Evil God Imugi,' exploding with thousand-year-old charm.
In April, following "Buried Hearts," the new SBS drama "Haunted Palace" (written by Yoon Soo-jung, directed by Yoon Sung-sik) features a fantasy romantic comedy where the medium girl Yeori, who rejects her fate, and the Imugi Kang-cheol trapped in the body of Yeori's first love, Yoon-gap, confront an eight-featured ghost harboring a grudge against the royal family, resulting in a struggle for both body and soul. Director Yoon Sung-sik, known for his engaging works such as the dramas "Mr. Queen," "Lee Soon Shin is the Best," "Bridal Mask," and "Dae Joyeong," teams up with writer Yoon Soo-jung, who wrote the dramas "The King's Face" and "Cheer Up!" A fresh cast featuring Yook Sung-jae (as Yoon-gap/Kang-cheol), Kim Ji-yeon (as Yeori), and Kim Ji-hoon (as Lee Jeong) has been confirmed, raising expectations.
In particular, Yook Sung-jae takes on the dual role of Yoon-gap, the first love of Yeori, and the Evil God Imugi 'Kang-cheol,' displaying remarkable versatility. Transitioning from the kind and intelligent young master to the lovable yet vile Imugi, his charismatic presence commands the palace and city as 'Kang-cheol Yook Sung-jae' heightens expectations for his performance.
Meanwhile, the "Haunted Palace" team has revealed stills of Yook Sung-jae possessed by 'Imugi Kang-cheol,' capturing public attention. In the released stills, Yook Sung-jae's appearance has transformed from the gentle young master Yoon-gap to a figure radiating overwhelming charisma. Notably, his neck is adorned with the distinctive scales of Imugi, blending with his fair skin, creating a mesmerizing and imposing beauty. Furthermore, his piercing, cold gaze emanates the aura of an omnipotent 'Evil God.'
The subsequent stills capture Yook Sung-jae, showcasing the beautiful young master as he takes on the bizarre demeanor of a madman; adorned in splendid ceremonial robes, he is sprawled on a bench, and despite his beautiful face, his mischievous expressions and gestures elicit laughter. Additionally, Yook Sung-jae is seen confidently perched on the palace roof in broad daylight, looking down at the human realm below, radiating an unpredictability mixed with an undeniable arrogance.
With his overwhelming charisma and his eccentric and grotesque traits that transcend the human realm, Yook Sung-jae perfectly embodies the Evil God Imugi, a culmination of thousand-year-old charm, sparking admiration and raising anticipation for the upcoming broadcast of "Haunted Palace."
