Ju Jihoon revealed his true feelings about the hot character Baek Gang-hyuk.
On the 18th, a cover interview with Ju Jihoon for the fashion magazine Singles was released. After debuting in 2006, Ju Jihoon will celebrate his 20th anniversary as an actor next year. While much has changed over his acting career, he noted that the secret to maintaining his unique balance is 'I try to clearly distinguish between honesty and rudeness. I strive not to be rude, and I aim to convey necessary stories honestly and efficiently.'
When asked if he always knows what he wants and performs his duties accurately, Ju Jihoon said, 'My workplace is strictly collaborative. If I may exaggerate, there's almost nothing I can do alone. Since the character is created with the hard work of over 100 staff members, I believe it is natural to do my part.'
Ju Jihoon recently showcased a powerful performance as Professor Baek Gang-hyuk in the Netflix series The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, marking his second heyday. He described Baek Gang-hyuk with the words 'munchkin, exhilarating, and no obstacles,' saying, 'I thought people would want such a leader in reality,' while explaining the character. He added, 'Rather than seeing myself as the main character, I viewed The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call as a single entity. I felt it was a work where harmony of balance is important, regardless of lead or supporting roles.'
Regarding the supportive younger colleagues whose chemistry stood out in the drama, he noted, 'They really studied hard and prepared,' reflecting on the intense process. 'The passion of my juniors was sparkling and beautiful. I hoped they wouldn’t feel intimidated by me. As we progressed into the later stages of filming, I could visibly see their growth alongside the narrative, which made me proud and delighted.'
Ju Jihoon has attempted new changes with each work. Regarding his choices of characters, such as in 'Love on a Single-Rail Bridge' after 'Dominion' and 'Dark Figure of Crime' after 'Along with the Gods,' he explained, 'Rather than avoiding similar works to the previous ones, I try to discover new elements within any piece.'
The photoshoot and interview featuring Ju Jihoon and Hamilton can be found in the April issue of Singles.
