Sung Dong-il's son Sung-jun enrolls in Hanyang University Engineering program

It has been revealed that actor Sung Dong-il's son Sung-jun has enrolled in the College of Engineering at Hanyang University.

On the 17th, a video titled "National Dad Sung Dong-il's educational philosophy (Dad, where are you?; Sung Dong-il's favorite spots; Songdo residents)" was uploaded to actor Ryu Jin's YouTube channel "The Best Ryu Jin."

In the video, Ryu Jin shared updates at a favorite barbecue restaurant with Sung Dong-il, who appeared with him on the MBC variety program "Dad, where are you?".

Ryu Jin said, "If the kids can become independent, then it will get easier from that point on," but added, "But it doesn't seem like that is happening. The kids don't seem like they can become independent, and they need the ability to do so."

In response, Sung Dong-il said, "You have to kick them out," noting, "The kids love independence the most." He went on to say, "In Jun's case, he works part-time in Daechi-dong. He works part-time and received his salary and even went to Yeosu."

Later, Ryu Jin mentioned that Jun has enrolled in the College of Engineering at Hanyang University this year. Ryu Jin said, "Jun really studied hard. There might be people who don’t know, but brother (Sung Dong-il) also graduated from engineering school."

He then said, "I never imagined that my brother graduated from engineering school" and asked, "Isn't it the case that he didn’t encourage you to go that way (to engineering school)?"

Sung Dong-il said, "I have never told (Jun), 'Do this.' The same goes for Bin (the second daughter)," adding, "It's something you do because you like it. What if you end up resenting it later after I pushed you? Why would I listen to that?"

He continued, "However, there is a condition. 'Since you want this, I'll give you everything. But don’t regret it afterward. After that, you have to take care of everything yourself,'" and remarked, "How long am I supposed to be responsible for this?"

When Ryu Jin asked, "Wasn’t it amazing when Jun got into engineering?" Sung Dong-il replied, "(Jun) is different from me," adding, "He is naturally talented in math, so there’s nothing beyond that for him."
