KBS2 "Boss's Ears are Donkey Ears" Jeong Ji-seon confessed that she had a miscarriage at 9 weeks last year, evoking sadness.
On the 16th (Sunday), the 297th episode of the KBS2 entertainment show "Boss's Ears are Donkey Ears" (directed by Ahn Sang-eun, hereafter "Boss's Ears") recorded a national viewership rating of 5.7%, a peak rating of 7.5%, and a 2049 rating of 1.6%, maintaining its position as the number one entertainment program in the same time slot for 146 consecutive weeks (Nielsen Korea).
Lee Soon-sil, the boss, entered Gangnam with ambitions to open a restaurant in the heart of Gangnam. After filling her stomach by wandering around the Yeongdong Market, Lee Soon-sil, a major player in the food industry, bought a large amount of ingredients. Upon meeting Jeong Jun-ha, who operates three restaurants only in Gangnam, Lee Soon-sil expressed her delight, highlighting Jeong Jun-ha's achievements on "Infinite Challenge" and confirming her status as a fan, which made Jeong Jun-ha happy. Jeong Jun-ha was impressed while tasting Lee Soon-sil's Pyongyang dumplings, which had recorded sales of 2.3 billion won in January alone, as she strongly emphasized her will to open the restaurant. Not wanting to miss the opportunity, she declared she would personally cook a new menu and took over Jeong Jun-ha's kitchen.
Park Myung-soo, the boss, served as a judge for the KBS comedian audition. Upon gathering Park Jun-hyung and Shin Yun-seung, Park Jun-hyung confessed that he had failed the audition eight times in the past. He shared a painful experience of being eliminated after competing against Shim Hyun-seop and Kang Sung-bum, revealing that he had borrowed a gas station's service fee for his last attempt at the KBS audition and successfully passed, stating, "Comedy is sincerity."
"While judging the audition, the one who left a strong impression from the start was Oh Ji-hun, a guy who passed in 3 seconds," he said, adding that "later, Kim Young-chul, Jeong Jong-chul, and Park Hwi-soon also passed the comedian audition with their overwhelming visuals," which elicited laughter. Park Jun-hyung amazed everyone by performing an instant demonstration of a skill, stating that he earned 300 million won a month during his prime. Moving to the KBS audition venue, Park Myung-soo met the applicants along with junior comedians, producers, and writers, but uniquely elicited laughter at points different from other judges, drawing complaints. The involved CP stated, "If Park Myung-soo laughs, you can filter it out, as he indiscriminately gives passing scores. It will be a different selection style during the third round of auditions," causing more laughter.
Jeong Ji-seon visited psychiatrist Lee Kwang-min. Jeong Ji-seon, who is so busy that she has 19 overseas and 12 domestic schedules a month, expressed, "I thought I was enjoying my work, but since I'm human, I get tired," but also noted, "Not working stresses me more, so I find happiness in work," which added to the sadness. She revealed that she averages 4 hours of sleep and only eats once a day, leading to astonishment. In response, Jeon Hyun-moo empathized, saying, "I also took short naps. I was so dazed that I didn't even know what I was saying. I'm just like that."
Jeong Ji-seon answered that the thing she worries about the most is her "son," saying that "I don't want my six-year-old Woo-hyung to live like his mother without rest." Jeong Ji-seon, who identified 'effort' as her strength and condition for happiness, said, "The process of getting employed wasn't smooth, so the hurt was great. More than money, just being able to work itself was happiness," and mentioned that she didn't take a break from work from the beginning of her pregnancy until the day before giving birth. Lee Kwang-min diagnosed that this is similar to Jeon Hyun-moo, who cannot rest because of the fear of not getting job offers. "This is a trait of trauma. Living not in the present but with the mindset of the past," he commented.
Following this, Jeong Ji-seon's heartbreaking confession continued. "I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks last year. It was a very busy time while preparing for the opening of the store. I was sorry as so many people around had high expectations.' When asked by Lee Kwang-min if she was okay, she answered coolly, "I’m fine. I worked right away then. I don't want to fall into sadness by thinking back on it unnecessarily," while adding that her biggest mistake was the miscarriage, which increased the sadness.
Lee Kwang-min stated, "Work should not become a tool for avoidance, or else it festers," and emphasized, "You need to expand hobbies unrelated to cooking, such as exercise." Jeon Hyun-moo revealed that he overcomes challenges by ensuring to travel on his days off now. After the consultation, Jeong Ji-seon headed to a kickboxing gym with Kim Hee-won. Jeong Ji-seon was seen hitting the sandbag vigorously and smiling brightly, causing even those watching to smile. "For the 2-3 hours of moving and sweating, I didn’t think about work. I don’t consider work a greed. I do it because it’s fun. I will continue to do it," showing a healthy will.
