The family of late actor Kim Sae-ron refuted Kim Soo-hyun's explanation, calling it a "false statement."
Attorney Bujiseok from the law firm Buyu, representing the family of late Kim Sae-ron, appeared at the Korean National Police Agency at 2 p.m. on the 17th to file a complaint against YouTuber A.
That day, attorney Bujiseok held a press conference in front of the Korean National Police Agency and conveyed the family's position. He stated, "I will discuss related matters with Kim Soo-hyun's side. In fact, the family only hoped that Kim Soo-hyun's side would acknowledge the relationship in order to proceed with the lawsuit against YouTuber A based on false information. However, the false statement has made matters more difficult for the family, and I hope for a sincere apology even now."
He continued, "After the agency sent the first content verification letter, Kim Sae-ron sent a text message to Kim Soo-hyun asking for help. In response, Kim Soo-hyun sent a second content verification letter. Briefly explaining the content of the second verification letter, while it mentions that 'it falls under embezzlement, so there's nothing I can do,' it essentially said that a period would be given, and that the debt must be repaid. Furthermore, it included a threat not to contact Kim Soo-hyun or other actors from his agency and warned of legal action regarding the act of posting photos."
He also stated, "In fact, there has not been a single contact from Kim Soo-hyun after the second content verification letter, and I could not even get in touch with other actors from the agency with whom I used to communicate. I can hardly even imagine the mental anguish that the deceased must have endured upon receiving such verification letters during their lifetime. I don't understand why, at this point, they are waiting for the family's contact through a public statement. We are currently considering legal action against Kim Soo-hyun's side."
Meanwhile, the family of late Kim Sae-ron claimed through the YouTube channel "Garo-Seto Research Institute" (hereinafter "Gaseyeon") that actor Kim Soo-hyun was in a relationship with Kim Sae-ron for six months starting from her 15th year. In response, Gold Medalist, the agency, refuted, stating, "Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun were in a relationship from the summer of 2019, after Kim Sae-ron became an adult, until the fall of 2020," and added, "We believe that publicly airing this matter is inappropriate for both the mother, who sought any means to restore the reputation of her deceased child, and the deceased themselves. Our management would like to meet with the mother and provide a thorough explanation. Please contact the Gold Medalist office at any time."
In this context, the family requested the agency to "acknowledge that Kim Soo-hyun had a relationship with Kim Sae-ron from her minor years and to issue an official apology," to "officially apologize regarding the media play stating that Gold Medalist has not had a relationship for the past three years, and that just three days ago it was said there has been no relationship," to "acknowledge the contribution of Kim Sae-ron as a founding member of the company and to apologize for that," and to "acknowledge the content verification letter concerning 700 million won and request for repayment, and issue an official apology."
