Kang Tae-oh confessed his true feelings to Lee Sun-bin in 'The Potato Lab.'
In the sixth episode of the tvN drama 'The Potato Lab' (directed by Kang Il-soo and Shim Jae-hyun, written by Kim Ho-soo, planned by CJ ENM Studios, produced by Chorokbaem Media), So Baek-ho (played by Kang Tae-oh) took a bold step toward Kim Mi-kyung (played by Lee Sun-bin). So Baek-ho felt unfamiliar about being shaken by Kim Mi-kyung to the point of forgetting an important business agreement. Kim Mi-kyung was also troubled by So Baek-ho's attitude, which came closer without principles and then suddenly distanced himself again. So Baek-ho, with red eyes, confessed his honest feelings to the confused Kim Mi-kyung. When Kim Mi-kyung asked him what kind of person he was, So Baek-ho confessed, "A person who wants to cross the line," leaving the viewers' hearts racing.
On that day, an emergency situation arose at The Potato Lab. So Baek-ho declared that he would use a new variety from the United States rather than one developed at the lab for future potato chip production. Concerned that the change in materials and supplies would affect the taste, So Baek-ho suggested a blind test. When it was proposed to test the taste difference between chips made from the two varieties, the 'potato master' Kim Mi-kyung confidently stepped forward, but she was surprised to find it difficult to distinguish between chips of the same quality.
Nevertheless, Kim Mi-kyung did not give up. The long efforts and memories at The Potato Lab could not be in vain. Kim Mi-kyung argued that it was better to use a variety developed to suit domestic conditions, mentioning a new variety called 'Maru' that had similar productivity to the American variety. To persuade So Baek-ho, Kim Mi-kyung embarked on a round trip of 10 hours for a study on the Maru potato fields, with So Baek-ho accompanying her. In the car, Kim Mi-kyung said she did not hate So Baek-ho, who fired her, to relieve the awkward atmosphere. So Baek-ho felt both sorry and warmed inside by Kim Mi-kyung's sincerity.
Meanwhile, as the unusual atmosphere surrounding Kim Mi-kyung and So Baek-ho unsettled The Potato Lab, Park Gi-se (played by Lee Hak-ju) visited the guesthouse. Unable to stand seeing Kim Mi-kyung, So Baek-ho, and Yoon Hee-jin (played by Jeong Sin-hye) living together, Park Gi-se suggested that So Baek-ho stay at a new lodging rather than the guesthouse. So Baek-ho, puzzled by Park Gi-se's sudden proposal, asked for the reason, and the ensuing advice about whether it wouldn't be uncomfortable living with employees bewildered him. He had been missing an important business agreement that he had been focusing on. So Baek-ho found his unexpected change strange.
So Baek-ho decided to distance himself from Kim Mi-kyung to concentrate on work. Kim Mi-kyung thought that So Baek-ho's sudden avoidance reminded her of when Park Gi-se had coldly turned away from her six years ago, thinking she had been mistaken. Back then, Kim Mi-kyung discovered a pot with deer urine, which So Baek-ho had once said he liked, by the window of his lodging. When she went to find So Baek-ho, she told him that it was difficult dealing with his attitude of coming closer without principles and then pulling away. With tears welling up, Kim Mi-kyung asked him to tell her what kind of person she was. So Baek-ho confessed, "A person who wants to cross the line," raising their heartbeats. It remains to be seen whether the two will confirm their true feelings and move toward each other.
