Comedian Jeong Jun-ha revealed the recent success of his restaurant business.
On the 16th, KBS2's "Boss's Ears are Donkey Ears" depicted a meeting between Jeong Jun-ha, known as the 'big player in the food industry', and Lee Soon-sil.
On this day, Lee Soon-sil, who visited Gangnam, explained, "Today, I am going to open a restaurant here in Gangnam. I want to try running a restaurant, and I thought it should be in Gangnam if I am going to do it." Jeon Hyun-moo noted, "The rent is outrageous," and Kim Sook expressed concern, saying, "You need to be careful."
Director Jang expressed concern, saying, "You tried several times and gave up, but now you're going to try again, so I am worried." Jeon Hyun-moo asked, "Do you have any knowledge about Gangnam?" In response, Lee Soon-sil said, "I have been here a few times when lifting. I did lifting and then sat down. It would have been better not to do it," which made everyone laugh.
Lee Soon-sil continued, saying, "There are big players in the center of Gangnam. There are players bigger than me in the food industry. These big players in the food industry own several restaurants in Gangnam." Later, the person he met was none other than Jeong Jun-ha, who has 28 years of experience in the food industry.
Kim Sook said, "They are indeed big players. They own several shops near Gangnam Station," and Jeon Hyun-moo explained, "Their sushi restaurant is doing really well." Jeong Jun-ha, who operates three restaurants in Gangnam, said, "Since you came to our restaurant, I will treat you to the food," adding, "I have been in the food industry for 28 years. People don’t really know this."
Park Myung-soo said, "The revenue from that sushi restaurant is 400 million won," and Jeong Jun-ha shared, "When the IMF came, I started a street food stall with a deposit of 20 million won and 18.5 million won for the interior, and the monthly rent was 570,000 won. People around me tried to dissuade me, asking why I was starting a business when the economy was tough, but I had a feeling it would succeed if I did it," showcasing his keen sense. Kim Sook also acknowledged, "He has talent in the food industry."
Lee Soon-sil asked, "What is it like doing business in Gangnam?" Jeong Jun-ha replied, "The commercial area is relatively good. There is a diverse population. There are many students and various hospitals including plastic surgery clinics, and there are buses running late nearby." Lee Soon-sil said, "I have a feeling that sitting and eating together with Jeong Jun-ha will surely work out. I feel I will receive good energy," and said, "I am planning to open my first location."
Jeong Jun-ha asked, "Aren't you currently doing something?" Lee Soon-sil responded, "I am only doing factory work. Now I want to make it like a store." In response, Director Jang recounted, "I have failed in the food industry several times. Once in Jeju, once in Gangwon, and once in Hwaseong." Jeong Jun-ha expressed surprise, saying, "Do you like gukbap (soup with rice)? You keep bringing it up," and Lee Soon-sil candidly admitted, "I also had gukbap as a large portion. I wasted a lot."
Jeong Jun-ha, curious, asked, "Since you did that, do you still want to do it again?" Lee Soon-sil replied, "I definitely want to find what I've lost. I have done naengmyeon, kimchi, dumplings, and sundae (Korean blood sausage)," adding that she wants to try more as the dumpling business is doing well. "That's why I came to meet you today," she sought advice.
Hearing this, Jeong Jun-ha said, "These days, the food industry is not easy. It's a year when you need to pack up and disband. I am advising people who are in the food industry not to continue." Lee Soon-sil showed a firm stance, saying, "I absolutely have to do it," while Jeong Jun-ha reiterated, "I provided advice. I told you not to do it."
Lee Soon-sil revealed, "We can't sell dumplings because they can't be frozen. The revenue is 2.3 billion won a month. In January, the revenue reached 2.3 billion won," indicating the booming dumpling business. Kim Sook commented, "So, is that why you went to look at buildings in Gangnam? It sounds promising," and Jeong Jun-ha boasted, "Our sushi restaurant is doing incredibly well," stating that "the revenue for the sushi restaurant is several hundred million won a month," which amazed everyone.
In response, Lee Soon-sil commented, "I will definitely open in Gangnam. Right next to Jeong Jun-ha. I need to absorb that energy," and she also mentioned, "I brought a new menu," showcasing her own developed dish, which piqued curiosity.
