Park EunBin conveyed her thoughts on her acting transformation.
On the 17th, a production presentation for the Disney+ 'Hyperknife' took place at the Conrad Seoul Hotel. The event was attended by Park EunBin, Sul KyungGu, Yoon ChanYoung, Park ByungEun, and Director Kim JungHyun.
The Disney+ original series 'Hyperknife' (directed by Kim JungHyun, written by Kim SunHee, provided by Walt Disney Company Korea, produced by CJ ENM Studios, Vlad Studios, and Dongpung Co., Ltd.) depicts the intense rivalry that erupts when 'Jeong SeOk' (played by Park EunBin), a once-promising genius doctor, reunites with her mentor 'Choi DeokHee' (played by Sul KyungGu), who brought her to ruin.
Returning as a 'psychopathic killer,' Park EunBin recalled her joining the project, saying, "While I was filming 'Diva of the Deserted Island,' the title 'Hyperknife' caught my attention among the proposals I received. When I turned the first page, there was a very powerful logline. I thought to myself that it was a work that strongly drew me in."
She continued, "I'm actually not someone who makes difficult choices. I don't particularly like challenges. However, internally, I continuously judge what I like and can do. So it did not feel like a difficult decision. With this work as well, I was excited about what kind of emotions I could convey to the audience through the character SeOk."
She also mentioned, "As an actor, I think it's about meeting various characters and lives. I don't always act in a calculated manner, rather I acted instinctively and with my senses awakened depending on the situation. When I discovered aspects of myself that I didn't know, I thought, 'This is SeOk's face.'"
In response, Director Kim shared the background of casting Park EunBin, stating, "Like all directors, it's a great charm to show an unseen side of the actor to the public. When EunBin volunteered to take on a role that was beyond imagination, it was only joy, rather than expectations. I was looking forward to what kind of image she would present in the future."
He added, "While watching on set, I often found myself saying, 'This is insane.' I also thought, 'Isn't she really crazy?' It wasn't limited to a particular scene; as the story progressed, the emotional viscosity built up and exploded, which I think will resonate powerfully, while not being ordinary, making an impact."
