The girl group (G)I-DLE's Yuqi's digital single 'Radio (Dum-Dum)' is finally released today.
The agency Cube Entertainment will unveil Yuqi's digital single 'Radio (Dum-Dum)' on various music sites at 6 p.m. on the 17th.
'Radio (Dum-Dum)' is a self-composed song by Yuqi that expresses the feelings toward a former lover by likening it to a radio, featuring a medium-tempo boom bap genre. The rhythmic acoustic guitar and BASS line that lead the entire track are impressive. In particular, Yuqi's charming low- and mid-range voice coupled with a trendy melody completes her unique hip-hop R&B genre.
'Radio (Dum-Dum)', which lets you feel Yuqi's sophisticated charm, was first revealed during last year's (G)I-DLE's third world tour '2024 (G)I-DLE WORLD TOUR [iDOL] IN SEOUL' and has received high interest through a special clip. Additionally, although it was an unreleased track, it gained explosive popularity as it was used in advertisements, leading to continued interest in its official release.

Q1. How do you feel about releasing the digital single 'Radio (Dum-Dum)' after a year since your first solo album 'YUQ1'?
Yuqi: I really appreciate the love I've received even without the official audio of 'Radio (Dum-Dum)' until now. Although it has been six months since the song was revealed in the special clip, through the efforts of myself and the company staff, we are finally able to release it as a digital single.
Q2. What inspired you to create 'Radio (Dum-Dum)'?
Yuqi: While listening to hip-hop beats, I suddenly envisioned people in the 2000s Y2K atmosphere listening to radios on the street. The melody 'Dum-Dum' that appears in the chorus of the track sounds like a radio, which helped complete the melody.
Q3. The contents including a special clip and recording behind-the-scenes footage for 'Radio (Dum-Dum)' were revealed earlier. Do you have any memorable episodes from filming or recording?
Yuqi: Director JIMMY, who filmed the music video for 'Could It Be,' a track from my first solo album 'YUQ1', also filmed the special clip for 'Radio (Dum-Dum)'. I am really grateful that he was able to complete the special clip wonderfully despite the tight schedule of having to finish filming in just one day.
Q4. What are the listening points for 'Radio (Dum-Dum)'?
Yuqi: I think it might be the addictive melody and my husky low- to mid-range voice. (laughs)
Q5. What does 'Radio (Dum-Dum)' mean to you?
Yuqi: In fact, this song was written after releasing my first solo mini-album 'YUQ1'. If I had written this song first, I think it would have competed as a candidate for the title track against 'FREAK', the title track of my mini-album.

Yuqi: I'm sorry for keeping our Neverbuddies (fan nickname) waiting, and I hope you know that we are working hard. Finally, you can enjoy it as an official audio, so I hope you listen to it a lot.
