Actor Park Bo-gum moved viewers to tears with his intense emotional performance.
On the 14th, the second act of the Netflix series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' was released, where Park Bo-gum portrayed 'Gwan-sik', a young man approaching middle age, who builds a family with 'Ae-soon' (played by IU) and depicts the character's change over time.
The scene of 'Gwan-sik' safeguarding a pure love solely for 'Ae-soon' also made viewers' hearts race in the second act. Park Bo-gum depicted 'Gwan-sik's' growth as he evolves from a 'love farmer' throwing straight pitches toward his beloved to a father struggling to rescue his wife and children from the depths of reality. Even during a celebration held to commemorate the purchase of a fishing boat, he remained fixated solely on 'Ae-soon', and when an emergency arose, he rushed without delay. The scene of presenting 'Ae-soon's' longed-for biological mother's house showcased 'Gwan-sik's' steadfastness, standing like a shadow against any adversity.
In particular, the scene where 'Gwan-sik' suddenly kisses 'Ae-soon', who is tearing up with the overwhelming feeling of being embraced for the first time, skyrocketed the excitement level. Park Bo-gum, while having grown more resilient, retained a gentle expression and tone, adding persuasiveness to 'Gwan-sik's' subtle changes with eyes still filled with pure love.
Meanwhile, the emotional tearful performance garnered attention. 'Gwan-sik', who had been like iron amidst the oppressive summer heat that nurtures everything, collapses in a moment of despair, moving the home audience to tears. 'Gwan-sik' could not control his emotions after the sudden death of his youngest son, 'Dong-myeong', and his wailing, which even drowned out the sound of waves, vividly revealed a parent's sorrow for a lost child. Park Bo-gum illustrated 'Gwan-sik' unravelling helplessly before a cruel fate, leaving viewers speechless.
Thus, Park Bo-gum vividly portrayed the journey of 'Gwan-sik' taking steps from youth to middle age, enhancing the immersion by becoming one with the character. The Netflix series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' will release its third act exclusively on Netflix on the 21st.
