As Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee's 'second child' is expected to be born, interest is focused on Hong Sang-soo's 'inheritance.'
On the 14th, a video titled "How much right does the public have to know about the private lives of celebrities?" was posted on the YouTube channel 'Viewport.'
In the video, Seo Dong-joo served as the MC, with divorce lawyer Yang Na-rae and cultural critic Ha Jae-geun granting their insights on the Hong Sang-soo-Kim Min-hee couple.
Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee have maintained an extramarital relationship for nearly 10 years after they met through the 2015 film 'Right Now, Wrong Then.' In 2016, Hong applied for divorce mediation against his wife, but it was unsuccessful, and he lost in a divorce lawsuit in 2019. Furthermore, Kim Min-hee's 'pregnant' status has recently been revealed, and it is known that she is expected to give birth this spring, drawing attention.
Lawyer Yang noted, "There are many people who question whether a child born out of wedlock should not inherit due to the negative perception associated with the term 'illegitimate child.' However, legal matters and moral judgments can differ. Legally, even if a child is born out of wedlock, their legal status is equal to that of a child born between legally married parents."
Yang added, "It is not necessary for a child to be born between spouses to inherit. However, if I have a child out of wedlock and want that child to have the status of an heir, a separate acknowledgment procedure must be followed. If a genetic test is conducted and the child is registered as a legal child after filing a recognition claim, when the family relationship certificate is issued, they will be listed with the original wife's children, and that is when the status of an equal heir arises. If a recognition claim is filed, they will naturally inherit, but if not, they will not receive anything."
Additionally, Lawyer Yang stated that regarding the inheritance potential of the legal wife and her daughter, "There are no issues with inheritance as she certainly holds the legal status of a spouse."
He further explained, "Our law specifically outlines reasons for disqualification from inheritance. For an heir's status to be revoked, there must be serious misconduct, such as murdering or attempting to murder the decedent. In the case of Hong Sang-soo's wife, she is in an unwanted situation despite wanting to maintain her family without any wrongdoing. Therefore, there should be no issues with inheritance."
