Director Bong Joon-ho's new film 'Mickey 17' is predicted to be released on VOD approximately three weeks after its North American premiere.

On the 14th (local time), 'When to Stream,' which informs on the latest film streaming release schedules in North America, reported that the film 'Mickey 17' will be available on VOD and digital platforms on the 25th. However, Warner Brothers has not issued a statement regarding this.

'Mickey 17' (written and directed by Bong Joon-ho, produced by Plan B Entertainment, and distributed in Korea by Warner Brothers Korea) follows an expendable, Mickey (played by Robert Pattinson), who is sent on dangerous missions. While facing his 17th death, Mickey 18 (also played by Robert Pattinson) is printed, leading to an unpredictable story.

In South Korea, 'Mickey 17' premiered on the 28th of last month and was released worldwide, including North America, on the 7th.

'Mickey 17' ranked first in box office ticket sales with $19.1 million (about 27.7 billion won) from 3,807 theaters in North America from the 7th to the 9th, but analyses indicate that its opening week box office revenue did not meet expectations, making it difficult to recover the significant expenses incurred in production and marketing.

Initially, the production expense of 'Mickey 17' was $118 million (about 171 billion won), and it was anticipated that it would need to earn approximately $275 million to $300 million (about 398.6 billion to 430 billion won) at the global box office to be profitable.

On the 15th, according to the film box office tracking site Box Office Mojo, 'Mickey 17' recorded $2.2 million (about 3.2 billion won) in ticket sales on Friday, the second week after its release, ranking third at the box office, showing a 71.5% decrease from $7.726710 million (about 11.2 billion won) on its opening day, the 7th, continuing a disappointing box office race.
