Singer Wheesung will become a true star in heaven, leaving behind only his masterpieces.
On the 16th at 6 a.m., Wheesung's funeral will be held at the first basement floor of the Samsung Medical Center funeral home. Earlier, the family stated, "We hope many people will join the late artist on his final journey," and decided to make the funeral public. Additionally, the burial service will take place an hour later at 7 a.m.
Wheesung debuted in 2002 with his first regular album 'Like A Movie' and released numerous hit songs including 'Can't I', 'A Story That Cannot Be Told', 'With Me', 'The Day We Meet Again', 'In A Year', 'I'm Missing You', 'I Thought About Marriage', 'A Heart-Wrenching Story', 'A Masterpiece Named You', 'Terminal Illness', 'Drip', and 'Love Is Delicious'.
Additionally, he showcased his talent as a lyricist and composer in albums of various artists including Geummi, Ailee, Ali, Wax, and TWICE. Wheesung became a leading R&B artist in Korea and a trusted singer-songwriter, creating many beloved songs for the public. He also once performed as a musical actor, proving his diverse talents.
On the 10th, Wheesung was found in a cardiac arrest state at his home in Gwangjin District, Seoul. He was 43 years old. An autopsy on Wheesung's body was conducted at the National Forensic Service (NFS) on the morning of the 12th, and the Gwangjin Police Agency verbally received an initial conclusion of 'cause of death undetermined' from the autopsy results. It is expected to take about two more weeks for the detailed test results to be released.
Many fans who loved the late artist's music are still unable to recover from the shock of the sudden news. They continue to reminisce about the music he left behind and miss him. Only the bright smile of Wheesung in his portrait is soothing the fans' sorrow.
The family stated, "We think it is a courtesy to provide time and a place for many people who remembered and loved my brother to pay tribute to singer Wheesung and the person Choi Wheesung. Thus, even though it's late, we would like to set up a memorial space. We would be grateful if anyone who knew my brother or had happy memories from his songs and music during his lifetime could visit the memorial without hesitation or burden to accompany him on his final journey. \
