Singer late Wheesung has passed away amid the condolences of colleagues.
The funeral service for late Wheesung was held at 6:20 a.m. on the 16th at the Seoul Samsung Hospital funeral hall in Gangnam, Seoul.
At the funeral service, after the introduction of Wheesung's biography, his brother, Choi Hyuk-sung, greeted the mourners. Choi Hyuk-sung said, "The physical life of the human Choi Wheesung has ended, but the music and spiritual life of singer Wheesung will be eternal," adding, "I believe my brother will remain with us until the day his songs are heard and sung in this world."
Actor Kim Na-woon noted in a eulogy, "In 2005, Wheesung sang at my wedding, and we've maintained our connection ever since. Being able to sing a few songs for this 20th wedding anniversary, Wheesung is truly our beautiful and eternal artist," while the president of Wheesung's fan club said, "Wheesung gifted music that was a hope, happiness, and comfort for someone for 23 years, with his unique talent and distinctive tone. I was happy and grateful to be a fan of singer Wheesung, who apologized for not adequately expressing his love and gratitude to his fans."
Brother Choi Hyuk-sung told fans after the funeral service, "I hope the next generation can hear Wheesung's songs and remember him." He added, "You know that once you listen to my brother's song, you will definitely become a fan, right? The next generation will hum Wheesung's 'With Me' as my brother continues to live among us."
Singers Ha Dong-kyun, Chupulex (Sang-chu), and family members carried the casket. On a rainy Sunday morning, Wheesung quietly passed away, leaving the side of his fans.
Wheesung was found dead at his home in Gwangjin, Seoul, on the 10th. The agency stated, "The deceased was discovered in a state of cardiac arrest at his home in Seoul and was pronounced dead."
Due to concerns for Wheesung's mother's health, the family initially planned a quiet funeral, but after much deliberation, they decided to hold a memorial service with many who remembered and loved Wheesung.
Since the visitation opened on the 14th, colleagues including IU, Lee Hyori, Kim Tae-woo, Kim Bum-soo, K.Will, KCM, Young Tak, Big Mama's Lee Young-hyun, Yoonha, Ali, Ailee, Yoo Se-yun, Ji Sang-ryeol, Cho Sae-ho, Psy, Hwanhee, In-soon, Dynamic Duo, Lee Joon, Yang Dong-geun, and Boom visited to share their sorrow.
Meanwhile, the National Institute of Scientific Investigation released an initial autopsy result indicating that the "cause of death is unknown." In response, Wheesung's side requested a detailed examination to confirm the possibility of drug use, and it is expected to take about two weeks for the results to come out.
