Actress Cha Joo-young provided behind-the-scenes insight on 'The Glory' and 'The Queen Who Crowns'.
On the 16th, TV Chosun's 'Shikgaek Heo Young-man's Baekban Journey' (hereafter Baekban Journey) featured the lead actors from the drama 'The Glory' and 'The Queen Who Crowns', popular actress Cha Joo-young, who visited Hampyeong, known for its butterflies.
Cha Joo-young and the guest were headed to taste the new small red bean porridge from the renowned 'red bean enthusiast' owner who travels the country searching for the best red bean porridge. The guest wondered, 'I had no idea I would meet an actress from the only work I have seen. Has anything changed since 'The Glory'?' Cha Joo-young acknowledged, 'Thanks to 'The Glory', my following projects have changed a bit, and the range of projects I can choose from has expanded.'
While tasting the small red bean porridge, Cha Joo-young drew attention when she replied to the guest's remark about how 'red bean porridge is good for hair loss' by saying, 'I really need that right now.' She continued, 'I lost a lot of hair doing the historical drama. The weight of the wig is considerable, and I use wax to secure it all day long, so my hair is falling out, and I also developed a disc issue.' The guest asked, 'Do you get paid more for the hard work?' To which Cha Joo-young jokingly replied, 'I plan to get paid more from now on.'
There were also insights shared regarding the filming of 'The Glory'. Cha Joo-young confessed, 'I love carbohydrates; my nickname is 'Rice Cake enthusiast.' So, I gained a lot of weight while filming 'The Glory'. I haven't been able to return to my previous state perfectly since then. Not yet.' When the guest asked, 'Has it been 4 years already?' Cha Joo-young elaborated, 'I gained about 5 to 6 kg in a short period. I inflated a lot and maintained that throughout the filming period.'
Despite her weight gain efforts, Cha Joo-young responded, 'I was satisfied' when discussing 'The Glory.' The guest remarked, 'Great satisfaction should be accompanied by a lot of income.' Cha Joo-young retorted, 'Then I suppose I need to work harder.'
Afterward, the two headed to a Chinese restaurant with annual sales of 600 million won. While ordering ketchup sweet and sour pork, they also mentioned Cha Joo-young's motorcycle, a 'hobby-rich' subject. He explained, 'I ride a motorcycle. It has been a few years.' He continued, 'I always wanted to ride a big motorcycle, but the company dissuaded me from it, so we reached a compromise, and this motorcycle is the result.' The guest asked, 'Have you ever ridden that to go get food?' Cha Joo-young replied, 'I have done that. I wanted to get some tteokbokki delivered, but the store was closing soon. So I rode there. But all the delivery people were there. I looked like a delivery person too,' he laughed.
On this day, Cha Joo-young mentioned her connection to Song Hye-kyo from 'The Glory.' After binge-watching 'The Glory,' guest Heo Young-man remarked, 'After acting with Song Hye-kyo, I feel like you resemble her a lot.' Cha Joo-young responded, 'Really? No, I don't,' appearing flustered. Heo Young-man then playfully asked, 'Are you perhaps feeling offended?' causing the scene to erupt in laughter. Cha Joo-young emphasized, 'I don't know how to respond to this. She is truly beautiful.'
Additionally, they visited a chicken course meal restaurant that directly cooks chickens upon order. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the guest noted, 'Isn't it famous for transporting fans in taxis?' referring to Cha Joo-young's playful banter with fans, colloquially known as 'Kkukku,' who had come to the filming site.
Cha Joo-young remarked, 'So the reason I appeared on Baekban Journey is that fans wanted me to do a variety show. Honestly, I had no intention of doing it at all. Fans previously gave me a checklist. They asked me to mark what I wanted to do if I had to appear on a variety show: Baekban Journey, the Korean dining table. Just then, they contacted me. Although it was a promise I kept to myself, I thought I could fulfill it and so I decided to appear.'
