It has been revealed that the late singer Wheesung used the pseudonym "Shin Jin-seo" during his music activities.
According to OSEN's report on the 15th, Shin Jin-seo, the composer and lyricist who participated in the female duo Davichi's song "Sandcastle," has been confirmed to be Wheesung. Additionally, his name appears as an arranger.
"Sandcastle" is a track included in Davichi's mini album "Season Note," released on May 16, 2022. It is known to be a collaboration between composer Moon Ji-young, who is active under the name "Dalnara Jiyoung," and lyricist Shin Jin-seo.
In this context, Shin Jin-seo has been revealed as another pseudonym for Wheesung's music activities. Wheesung, who has not released a new song since the March 2, 2022, drama "Sponsor" OST Part 2 "Fantasy," is known to have worked hard to continue his music career.
In relation to this, a source close to Wheesung, who knew him well during his lifetime, noted to OSEN, "Wheesung wanted to continue his music activities even after his personal controversies. However, due to the timing, several incidents had occurred, and since the song was not one of his own but would be performed by another artist, he used a pseudonym to avoid adding risks associated with himself, wanting to be evaluated solely on music."
In fact, Wheesung faced difficulties due to the propofol controversy involving broadcaster Amy. As a result, he was sentenced to one year in prison and two years of probation, along with a fine of 60.5 million won, 40 hours of community service, and 40 hours of drug treatment lectures in the appellate trial for the propofol injection charges in October 2021.
After that, Wheesung resolved to focus solely on music while battling panic disorder and chronic depression he had suffered from for a long time. In doing so, he immersed himself in music under a different name, aiming to be evaluated by the quality of the songs themselves.
However, on the 10th, Wheesung was found in a state of cardiac arrest at his home, shocking many. He was 43 years old. His family, after much deliberation, set up a mortuary at Samsung Seoul Hospital on the 14th, hoping that many would remember him as a singer until the end. This prompted not only those in the music world but also colleagues and juniors from the entertainment industry to come and pay their respects to Wheesung. The funeral service and burial will take place on the morning of the 16th, with the burial site at Gwangneung Memorial Park.
