Edward Lee targeted the tastes of the senior members of a traditional family with a course meal utilizing Andong mackerel and yam.
On the 14th, the broadcast of tvN 'Edward Lee's Country Cook' featured Edward Lee, Byun Yo-han, Go Ah-sung, and Cynthia visiting the Hahoe Folk Village in Andong, where Edward presented unique fusion dishes that captured both taste and health, stimulating viewers' salivary glands.
On that day, Edward Lee and Byun Yo-han prepared Christmas 'Eddie' edition dishes featuring spicy chicken for adults and mildly spicy chicken tailored for children's palates, utilizing Andong jjimdak and Andong strawberries. Captivated by the response of Aden, who typically offers incisive tasting reviews of his father's cooking, Edward focused on her as she playfully praised, "It’s tastier than what you usually make."
The fusion hotteok served with Andong strawberry sauce also garnered admiration from the Country Crew and their families. The combination of chewy texture, the freshness of lemon cream cheese, and the sweetness of strawberry sauce created a unique flavor that enchanted the family, who wiped their plates clean in satisfaction.
After the meal, the Country Crew and Edward Lee's family headed to Wolyeonggyo, a famous site in Andong, to create new memories. In particular, Edward shared a photo of his grandmother stored in his cellphone with his daughter Aden, revealing a deeply buried memory of his grandmother, which resonated emotionally. The Country Crew also empathized deeply with Edward's story, sharing warm affection that added to the heartwarming atmosphere.
After leaving meaningful memories with family on their grandmother's land, Edward Lee, Byun Yo-han, Go Ah-sung, and Cynthia headed towards the Hahoe Folk Village in Andong, where history and tradition come alive. Under the guidance of Lee Hye-young, the head of the household responsible for Chunghyo Lodge, the Country Crew enjoyed a beneficial time tasting various traditional foods, from Korean tea snacks sampled by the British queen to chimaek made without wonton skins and royal court food called junggae.
Having learned precious recipes that can only be found here, Edward decided to host a fusion meal for the senior members of the traditional family who invited him to their home. Inspired by the Country Crew, Edward created a 'Respect Fusion Course Meal' using Andong mackerel, yam, and strawberries.
The chef's dishes, which took into account taste, health, and visuals, made the senior members of the traditional family exclaim, "I feel like I could live another 10 years," as they polished off their plates. Lee Hye-young, who had been anxious about leaving food behind, caused laughter by shyly confessing her fan sentiment, saying, "My nephew is a fan" while photographing the dishes.
While Edward Lee served food to the senior members of the traditional family, the Country Crew, unexpectedly afforded a break, decided to prepare a meal for Edward, who was working hard alone. With a suggestion from the youngest, Cynthia, an impromptu cooking competition was initiated, raising curiosity about who among the budding chefs would earn Edward's approval as the first place winner.
