Former girl group member Yulhee and her ex-husband, FT Island drummer Choi Min-hwan, are embroiled in a lawsuit over changes to custody and issues regarding alimony and property division.
According to legal sources on the 14th, Judge Kang Yoon-hye of the Seoul Family Court's Family Division 12 ruled on the 12th that there was no agreement reached during the mediation regarding Yulhee's request for a change in custody and claims for alimony and property division against Choi Min-hwan. Both parties failed to reach a settlement. With the mediation failing, it seems likely that the two will proceed with formal litigation. The court to hear the case has yet to be determined.
Yulhee filed for mediation in November last year, stating that there were no discussions about alimony or property division at the time of their consensual divorce. Yulhee and Choi Min-hwan welcomed their first son in 2018 and held their wedding ceremony. They later had twin daughters, bringing their total to three children. However, after five years of marriage, they faced a divorce in 2023, and custody of the children was awarded to Choi Min-hwan.
In October last year, Yulhee revealed via a video on her YouTube channel that Choi Min-hwan had frequented entertainment establishments during their marriage, sparking controversy over his private life. As the controversy spread, there was a surge of criticism online suggesting that it was inappropriate for Choi Min-hwan to appear with his children on KBS 2TV's parenting variety show 'The Return of Superman,' and Choi Min-hwan announced a halt to his activities through his agency.
