At the late-opened funeral hall of the late singer Wheesung, prominent stars from the music industry such as Kim Tae-woo of g.o.d, Lee Hyori, Baby V.O.X, KCM, and IU paid their respects.
On the 14th, a funeral hall for Wheesung was prepared at Samsung Seoul Hospital. Among those, the tributes from junior and senior colleagues in the music industry continued, escorting the deceased on their final journey.
Kim Tae-woo from g.o.d, who had been close to Wheesung and had prepared concerts during his lifetime, quickly visited the funeral hall. Additionally, Lee Ji-young and Lee Young-hyun from Big Mama, along with Song Baek-kyung of One Time, who had once worked at YG Entertainment, were also present.
The junior girl group ICHILLIN, which belonged to the same TAJOYENT as the deceased, also visited Wheesung's funeral hall. Lee Hyori, who had worked with them in the past, as well as Shin Eun-jin and Lee Hee-jin of Baby V.O.X, did not forget to give their final farewell.
Moreover, singer Ha Dong-kyun and Lee Roo attended, alongside IU, who has been busy with recent activities in "When Life Gives You Tangerines."
As Wheesung had a long-standing broadcasting career, there was a continuous flow of mourners not only from the music industry but also from the entertainment industry as a whole. Comedians Yoo Se-yoon and Cho Sae-ho visited the funeral hall.
In particular, Cho Sae-ho was a close friend who even impersonated Wheesung on various shows. Before the news of the late singer's passing, an impersonation of Wheesung was even teased on MBC's variety show 'Good Day.' However, the production team of 'Good Day' edited out Cho Sae-ho's impersonation scene from the preview to avoid turning it into a parody while memorializing the deceased, and they decided to remove it from the live broadcast as well.
Even those who could not visit the site participated in the final farewell in spirit. The idol groups BTS and TWICE sent wreaths of condolence. Naul of Brown Eyed Soul, Lee Hyun-do of Deux, and singer Jung Jun-il also filled the deceased's funeral hall with wreaths.
Wheesung was found in cardiac arrest on the 10th in an apartment in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. The rescue team that arrived at the scene attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation but ultimately pronounced him dead. Following a request from the police, an autopsy conducted by the National Institute of Scientific Investigation revealed an initial verbal opinion of 'cause of death undetermined.'
The bereaved family had planned a quiet funeral attended only by family and close friends to cope with the shock; however, after much deliberation, they decided to hold a funeral to commemorate Wheesung as a singer. In this regard, the deceased's younger brother stated, "Anyone who had even a little happiness from his songs and music should feel free to visit the funeral hall so that he does not leave alone on his final journey."
The farewell ceremony will take place on the 16th at 6 a.m., followed by the funeral service on the same day. The burial site is at the Gwangneung Memorial Park.
