Amy, who was forcibly deported from South Korea, late posted a tribute to the late singer Wheesung.
Amy posted a message on the 13th saying, "Now you can go happily. So many people love you more than I thought. The only regret is that you couldn't see or feel the hearts of all these people before you left. This breaks my heart too much. I’ll send everything I have. You can smile now without thinking of anything; I haven't prepared for anything yet, but how will I live on with what remains? Thank you for being my friend all this time. You will always remain in my heart."
She continued, "I should have done better, I should have embraced you more, I shouldn't have been petty, I should have endured the disappointment, and I regret only thinking about how I felt. I was really wrong about you, thinking that you were so strong now. We agreed that everything would be better once we talked. Though not everything can change, there will always be someone who is on your side again. We promised to trust each other. We knew how much it means to have someone truly believe in us. Now, don’t think of anything, just go peacefully. Be happy and go to a place where no one can hurt you! Goodbye, my soulmate," she said in memory of the deceased.
Amy also said, "There’s something called a memory. It really existed. I spent more than thirteen years with you, and it’s hard to believe there’s only this one memory… I can’t believe it." She also shared a photo taken with Wheesung.
Shortly after Wheesung's unfortunate death, Amy posted about the deceased in her own way, expressing her condolences; however, fans looked at her posts unfavorably. One netizen commented, "Why are you suddenly posting this? Wheesung suffered so much because of your loose talk, so why not just keep quiet?"
This is due to a revelation Amy left on her personal social media in April 2019. At that time, Amy exposed that she had taken propofol with a former celebrity identified as A. He was sentenced to 8 months in prison and 2 years of probation for habitual use of propofol in 2012, and he continued to face legal issues after being discovered to have taken zolpidem during his probation, leading to a fine and his forced deportation in 2015.
Wheesung, identified as A, publicly released recorded conversations, explaining his side and putting his singing career on the line.
"Can you handle it?" Amy, who targeted her friend, said, "Hearing your story made me feel like trash. I’ll admit I was wrong," but Wheesung lamented, "Even if you say you were wrong, no one will believe you. Now. Today’s concert ended up being canceled, and I’ll have to repay all contracts. What should I do to make a living now? Can I even sing?" he cried.
The situation turned 180 degrees as Amy asked Wheesung for forgiveness, saying, "Wheesung, please forgive me," and confessed, "I’ll make it right. I’ll take more heat and definitely make it right. You looked so amazing, and honestly, I felt some inferiority complex." Wheesung was moved to tears, asking, "Why do I have to be the scapegoat?"
Wheesung, who struggled with panic disorder and depression throughout his career, had his activities effectively halted due to the incident and had to endure the hardest time since his debut.
In 2019, Wheesung was charged for purchasing the psychoactive anesthetic propofol 12 times over three months and for habitual use of the substance 11 times following Amy's revelation.
In March of the following year, he was found collapsed in a building restroom in Songpa District, Seoul, and in April of the same year, he was discovered collapsed after using anesthetic in a hotel restroom in Seoul, shocking many.
At that time, the agency stated, "Wheesung has been going through unbearable times due to the sudden passing of his father, consecutive deaths of friends he worked with, and the difficult incidents he faced last year," adding, "Even after being sent home, he has shown symptoms of extreme thoughts, depression, and panic disorder, and an admission to a related hospital was conducted. We deeply regret and apologize for showing a bad image, regardless of the reasons. "
Wheesung acknowledged most of the charges, and during the trial held in 2021, the court sentenced him to 1 year in prison, 2 years of probation, 40 hours of community service, and 40 hours of drug treatment education. Although the prosecution appealed, the appellate court upheld the original ruling in October of that year.
Amy, while being forcibly deported, again resorted to drugs, and in December 2022, it was reported that the Supreme Court's third division (Chief Justice Noh Jeong-hee) confirmed the initial ruling that sentenced her to 3 years in prison for violating drug laws.
Meanwhile, the late Wheesung was found in a state of cardiac arrest at his home located in Gwangjin District, Seoul, around 6:29 p.m. on the 10th. He was 43 years old. The Gwangjin Police Department has received an initial opinion from the National Forensic Service stating that the cause of death was "unknown." It is expected to take about two weeks to receive the results of the detailed examination.
The deceased's funeral parlor has been set up at Samsung Medical Center from the 14th, with the funeral scheduled for the 16th and the burial place being Gwangneung Memorial Park.
