Actor Kim Min-ha captivates viewers with 'A week before I die.'
The production team of the Tving original series 'A week before I die' released the first still cut of Kim Min-ha, who retains the atmosphere of a fresh first love, on the 13th. As time passes, the shadows surrounding him also spark curiosity.
'A week before I die' is a youth fantasy romance where Hee-wan (played by Kim Min-ha), who has turned away from the world, encounters his first love Ram-woo (played by Gong Myoung), who appears as a grim reaper. It is based on the warm-hearted novel of the same name by author Seo Eun-chae, depicting a sparkling story over a week as the exhilarating past and a changed present intersect. It drew significant attention even before its official release after being invited to the 'On Screen' section of the Busan International Film Festival last year.
The photos released on this day capture Kim Min-ha perfectly melted into the character 'Hee-wan,' drawing attention. The youthful Hee-wan, dressed in a school uniform, brightens the classroom with a cheerful and cute smile. His appearance writing a letter to someone was also captured. The image of him sitting at his desk late at night, carefully writing, suggests that Hee-wan has exceptional handwriting skills. However, as time passes, an atmosphere that is completely different from before sparks curiosity. The shadow cast over his face and his seemingly empty gaze seem to tell of the difficult times he has endured.
Kim Min-ha, who rose to fame overnight through 'Pachinko' and 'Light Shop,' plays the role of 'Hee-wan' in 'A week before I die.' 'Hee-wan' is the embodiment of a mischievous student who runs well, eats well, and plays well, distinctly contrasting with the model student Ram-woo. The quirky Hee-wan, who always creatively causes incidents, becomes closer to Ram-woo due to an April Fool's prank. However, after Ram-woo leaves, Hee-wan loses the vibrant version of himself from the past and undergoes a 180-degree change. Given that Hee-wan is a character with a clear change from past to present, expectations are high for the new side Kim Min-ha will showcase.
Kim Min-ha explained her feelings when she first encountered the work, saying, "I remember crying and laughing a lot when I first saw the script. Set against a spring backdrop, with many representations of youth, I thought it was really nostalgic, pretty, and beautiful. I hope viewers can feel their own spring and warmth as well."
She also noted about actor Gong Myoung, saying, "He's an actor with a transparent and comfortable charm. He always makes people around him feel at ease, and he also embodies the playful, pure high school student. That aspect is well reflected in Gong Myoung's eyes. He really only appeared as 'Ram-woo,' which helped me immerse myself in the role a lot. I'm really thankful for him," stimulating anticipation for their chemistry.
'A week before I die' will be released on Tving on Thursday, April 3, with episodes 1 and 2.
