Singer Lim Chang-jung is embroiled in allegations of a high-priced performance guarantee scam, and the performance planning company has stated it will actively respond.
According to OSEN's coverage on the 13th, Lim Chang-jung not only failed to take responsibility for the nationwide tour performance guarantee and damage costs, but has also evaded all contact from the performance planning company A.
Earlier, a media outlet reported that singer Lim Chang-jung contracted a nationwide tour concert with company A for over 1 billion won in guarantee but has not paid it back.
Initially, Lim Chang-jung planned a nationwide tour concert with company A, but faced setbacks after being caught up in a stock manipulation scandal in April 2023. It was found that Lim Chang-jung not only invested 3 billion won in the stock manipulation scheme but also participated in promotional events for investors.
Lim Chang-jung claimed that he too was a victim of significant loss, stating that the group involved purchased stocks worth a total of 8.4 billion won using the 3 billion won investment, and he was unaware of it. Amid the controversy, Lim Chang-jung's activities faced restrictions, and the nationwide tour concert contracted with company A was canceled. Ultimately, company A had to bear the full brunt of losses, including cancellation fees.
Subsequently, in June of last year, Lim Chang-jung was not indicted on charges of stock manipulation, and he stated, "I will never forget all these events and will live my life in reflection and repentance." He then settled with his agency, MBOX Co., Ltd., and released a regular album, while on the 12th of this month, he announced that he would hold a solo concert titled 'Rustic Concert' in May 2025.
However, it has been confirmed that Lim Chang-jung is continuing this unilateral course of action without resolving the guarantee and damage costs issues with company A.
As a result, company A plans to take active measures against Lim Chang-jung, with a representative stating in a phone call with OSEN, "Lim Chang-jung did not take responsibility for the nationwide tour performance guarantee or damage costs," noting that the 'scam allegations' are true.
He added, "(Lim Chang-jung) has shown no willingness to resolve the issue, such as evading contact, and we are currently reviewing response measures."
