Stray Kids achieved two awards at the Japan Gold Disc Daesang.
According to the list of award-winning works and artists for the '39th Japan Gold Disc Daesang' announced on the official website by the Japan Record Association on Dec. 12, Stray Kids won 'Music Video of the Year' and 'Best 3 Albums.' Having won in the 'Best 5 Singles' category with their first Japanese EP album 'Social Path (feat. LiSA) / Super Bowl -Japanese ver.-' last year, Stray Kids became a recipient of the Japan Gold Disc Daesang for the second consecutive year and third time overall, showcasing their strong local popularity.
The 'Music Video of the Year' category was awarded to Stray Kids for their live Blu-ray 'Stray Kids 2nd World Tour "MANIAC" ENCORE in JAPAN,' released in February 2024. The Blu-ray vividly captured the solo concert held at Kyocera Dome Osaka on Feb. 26, 2023, as part of the world tour "MANIAC" Japanese encore performance.
As the first live Blu-ray released after their official debut in Japan, it includes the group's representative songs such as 'MANIAC,' 'Sori Ggun,' '神메뉴' (New Menu), and 'Back Door,' along with impromptu stages from the members and encore performances, totaling about three and a half hours of highlights. Stray Kids, who made their debut in Japan's first dome venue through this concert, noted, "It's really amazing to be on a stage I've dreamed of since I was young. I want to stand on stage for the rest of my life," shedding tears in the process.
The honor of winning in the 'Best 3 Albums' category was awarded for their 2nd Japanese studio album 'GIANT,' released in November 2024. This long-awaited regular album, which came about one year and nine months after their first Japanese studio album 'THE SOUND,' attracted intense attention and dominated local major album rankings, including Oricon, Billboard Japan, and Tower Records. Particularly, it revalidated their global influence by becoming the first album released by a K-pop artist in Japan in 2024 to reach No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes Top Albums chart.
The album's title track 'GIANT' is a song that expresses the group's unique grandeur and powerful charm, and it is expected to feature a Korean version as the title track in their upcoming digital single 'Mixtape: dominATE,' set to be released on the 21st.
Meanwhile, Stray Kids will hold four concerts from May 10 to 11 and 17 to 18 at Shizuoka Stadium Ecopa as part of their world tour 'Stray Kids World Tour 'dominATE.'' After shedding tears of emotion upon their first entry into Japan's dome venues in 2023, Stray Kids will present a spectacular performance befitting their elevated status as stadium artists in front of their fans.
