Singer Choi Yena (YENA) has snagged her first lead role in a terrestrial drama.
Choi will appear as the main character, Koo Won-hee, in the new KBS2 sitcom 'Villains Everywhere,' which will premiere on the 19th.
KBS2's new sitcom 'Villains Everywhere' (written by Chae Woo and Park Kwang-yeon, directed by Kim Young-jo and Choi Jeong-eun, produced by Studio Plum) is a situation comedy that captures the sometimes rough yet occasionally warm daily lives of K-Zoomma sisters and their quirky family.
Choi is a second-year student at Peace High School and plays the role of Koo Won-hee, a guest member of the Onara family. Koo Won-hee is a music girl who plays the contrabass and is perfect in every aspect, including appearance and family background, but her life gets turned upside down overnight due to an incident, leading her to live with the Onara family.
With the highly anticipated 'Villains Everywhere' set to premiere in one week, Choi participated in a press conference held on the 12th at the Grand Ballroom of the Stanford Hotel in Sangam-dong, Seoul.
Choi noted, "This is my first acting challenge on terrestrial television and my debut work. It's difficult and scary since it's my first time, but after starting filming, I learned a lot by watching how my wonderful seniors immerse themselves in acting." She expressed her excitement, saying, "I am so happy to spend every day working in my favorite genre, sitcom, for my debut work on terrestrial television."
Last year, Choi built a distinctive identity as a female solo artist by showcasing her lovely yet kitschy charm through the title track 'Nemo Nemo' from her third single 'Nemo Nemo.' In particular, 'Nemo Nemo' is filled with Choi's MZ sensibility and gained strong popularity, achieving a reversal record on domestic music sites.
Additionally, Choi made her mark as an actress in the web drama 'Girl's World' Season 2 and has entertained the audience through various variety shows such as 'High School Mystery Class,' 'Girls Night Out,' and 'Hye-mi-ri Ye-che-pa.' Fans' expectations are rising for Choi to step up as a terrestrial drama actor through 'Villains Everywhere.'
Meanwhile, the new KBS2 sitcom 'Villains Everywhere,' starring Choi, will premiere at 9:50 p.m. on the 19th.
