The still of Kim Ji-yeon, who appears in the SBS new Friday-Saturday drama “Haunted Palace,” has been unveiled for the first time.

In April, the SBS new Friday-Saturday drama “Haunted Palace” (written by Yoon Soo-jung and directed by Yoon Seong-sik), which will air following “Treasure Island,” is a fantasy romantic comedy about a shaman, Yeori, who refuses to accept the fate of a medium, and Imugi Kang Cheol, trapped in the body of Yeori’s first love, Yoon Gab, as they confront the vengeful Palchegwi, entangling body and soul. Director Yoon Seong-sik, known for dramas such as “Mr. Queen,” “Lee Soon Shin is the Best,” “Bridal Mask,” and “Dae Joyeong,” collaborates with writer Yoon Soo-jung, who wrote “The King’s Face” and “Cheer Up!,” and a fresh cast, including Yook Sung-jae (Yoon Gab/Kang Cheol), Kim Ji-yeon (Yeori), and Kim Ji-hoon (Lee Jung), has been confirmed to appear, raising expectations.

The first still of Kim Ji-yeon as "Yeori" has captivated attention. Yeori, played by Kim Ji-yeon, is known to be the only granddaughter of a famous shaman, possessing extraordinary abilities but refusing the fate of a medium, instead living as a glasses craftsman. Due to a twisted life where the 'evil god Imugi' that couldn't transform into a dragon tries to ascend using the body of the medium Yeori, she views Imugi Kang Cheol as a mortal enemy. However, as the Imugi possesses Yoon Gab (Yook Sung-jae), her body and soul become entwined, embroiling her in an unprecedented romance where feelings become complicated.

In the released stills, Kim Ji-yeon attracts attention with the elegant appearance of a hanbok and a clear and mysterious atmosphere. Kim Ji-yeon is expected to showcase a proactive character who carves out her destiny, along with complex feelings toward her first love, Yoon Gab, and the possessed Imugi. Her resolute expression and steadfast demeanor in the still convey "Yeori's" strong will, evoking admiration.

In addition, it is intriguing to see her conducting some form of ritual while her whole body is tightly bound with plain cotton and holding bamboo. In the drama, Yeori, born with the talent of a medium, devotes her spiritual abilities to soothe the grievances and spirits of vengeful spirits causing strange incidents throughout the capital. There is keen interest in Kim Ji-yeon's role as a healer who will heal the deep-rooted resentments of the apparitions. Expectations also rise for the chemistry between Yook Sung-jae, 'the Imugi of love and hatred,' and Kim Ji-yeon.

Meanwhile, the production team of “Haunted Palace” noted, “Kim Ji-yeon, who has proven her outstanding character assimilation and stable acting skills, will present even more three-dimensional and profound performances through ‘Yeori.’ Not only did she not spare herself in her dedicated performances on set, but she also showcased impressive chemistry with her co-star Yook Sung-jae, who is the same age, as a couple. Please look forward to and pay attention to this drama.”

On the other hand, the SBS new Friday-Saturday drama “Haunted Palace,” which is gaining attention as the only fantasy historical romantic comedy of 2025 presented by the royal drama SBS, is set to premiere in April.
