The story of figure skating gold medalist Kim Chae-yeon has been unveiled.
On the 12th, TVN's 'You Quiz on the Block' featured 2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games gold medalist Kim Chae-yeon appearing with her mother Lee Jeong-ah.
Kim Chae-yeon showcased the figure skating costume designed by her mother Lee Jeong-ah. Yoo Jae-seok congratulated her, saying, "Designer Jeong-ah Lee is nominated for a costume award." Lee Jeong-ah remarked, "If you look closely, it doesn't match the experts. I started learning costume design but switched to interior design because it didn't suit me."
Mother Lee Jeong-ah noted, "At first, figure skating clothes were expensive. A beginner's outfit for babies was 700,000 won. I thought about making one myself, which led to this opportunity."
Yoo Jae-seok introduced, "I thought Kim Chae-yeon appeared like a comet in the Winter Asian Games, but she has been an athlete for 9 years and a national representative for 5 years." Kim Chae-yeon shared, "I went to the skating rink for a group lesson in third grade, and it was so fun that I urged my mom to let me start. "
Kim Chae-yeon shared her motivation for starting skating, saying, "The wind felt so great while skating." She recalled, "Most athletes start as early as 7 years old. I was a bit late. Many friends could already do a double Axel at ten and were preparing for triples."
Mother Lee Jeong-ah expressed surprise, saying, "They say it's late to start being an athlete. However, I discovered figure skating costs a lot. Just for costumes, the expenses can range widely, from 5 million to 10 million won."
Mother Lee Jeong-ah said, "I talked about stopping since there is a younger sibling. At first, she didn't respond. A week later, she asked if she could do it because she really wanted to. I opposed it, saying I hoped she wouldn't do it, but she asked if she should not start at all unless she could be first."
