The group Seventeen (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, Dokyeom, Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino) shone as the 'best group in K-pop' by claiming the most trophies among international artists at the Japan Gold Disc Grand Award.
According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan on the 12th, Seventeen was selected as the 'Best Asian Artist' at the '39th Japan Gold Disc Grand Award.' This award is given to the Asian artist with the highest sales based on achievements in physical albums, music videos, and streaming. Seventeen has been named the winner in this sector for two consecutive years following last year.
Additionally, Seventeen placed their best album '17 IS RIGHT HERE' released last April and the mini album 'SPILL THE FEELS' released in October among the 'Top 3 Albums' in the Asian sector. In particular, '17 IS RIGHT HERE' was also selected as the 'Album of the Year' in the Asian sector, underscoring their high local popularity. Thus, Seventeen emerged as the overall winner of four awards at the '39th Japan Gold Disc Grand Award.'
Seventeen expressed through their agency Pledis Entertainment, "We are honored to receive such a valuable award again this year. We believe it is all thanks to our fans, CARAT, who always support us, and everyone who loves our music. Thank you. We will do our best to continue delivering good music in the future."
Launched in 1987, the 'Japan Gold Disc Grand Award' is a ceremony by the Recording Industry Association of Japan that honors artists and works that contribute to the development of the music industry, selecting winners and award-winning works based on sales figures of albums, music videos, and streaming performances throughout the year.
Seventeen achieved overwhelming results in Japan last year. They ranked highest among international artists in the 'Combined Album Ranking' and 'Album Ranking' sectors of the 'Oricon Annual Ranking 2024.' They also secured fourth place in the annual 'Total Sales by Artist Sector' announced by Oricon, achieving the highest rank for non-Japanese artists including K-pop.
Seventeen is set to meet local fans through a fan meeting in Japan. They will hold the 'SEVENTEEN 2025 JAPAN FAN MEETING 'HOLIDAY'' at Kyocera Dome Osaka on April 24 and 26-27, and at Saitama Super Arena on May 10-11. Prior to this, they will hold the '2025 SVT 9TH FAN MEETING 'SEVENTEEN in CARAT LAND'' at Incheon Munhak Stadium on the 20th-21st of this month.
