Shin Jeong-hwan mentioned a business he had previously succeeded in.
On the 10th, a video titled "Isn't it celebrities who worry about money?!" was posted on the YouTube channel 'Channel Fixed.'
While discussing the entrepreneurial challenges of celebrities in the released video, Shin Jeong-hwan said, "Surrounding me, there were wealthy people who suggested running a bar. Even if I was asked to show my face just two or three times, I didn't do it. I have no regrets. However, there is one thing I regret."
Shin Jeong-hwan expressed his disappointment, saying, "A person who cooks chicken came to me and suggested doing a 'Country Coco' franchise. At that time, we happened to be in a situation where we were in the car for almost half a day while filming, and we didn't even have time to sleep. That person did not know how busy we were. We had no time to sleep, so I rejected the business proposal. But I heard that the owner ended up doing really well."
However, Shin Jeong-hwan did achieve great success with a business in the past. He reminisced, saying, "I had a dessert business in Singapore. With that size, it was indeed a business. I set it up in a location that was expensive even in Singapore, comparable to the expensive district in Myeongdong, Seoul. A one-and-a-half-pyeong space was empty in a shopping center's basement, so I went alone and bought a dessert machine, and developed the menu."
He continued, "For three months, I went to work alone, frying and baking, developing and designing the menu for choco bingsu and milk bingsu, and it became a hit. There were lines. It was cool inside, but wasn't it hot outside? People were lining up to eat our bingsu."
However, eventually closing the business, Shin Jeong-hwan explained, "It wasn't a failure, but while I was running it, a close friend came to me and said, 'Jeong-hwan, while running a successful business is good, you should return to the entertainment industry. I'll help you. Let's sign a contract.' The business situation was really good, and I was thinking about it. But my friend said, 'This is not your calling,' so I settled my equity."
While saying, "Anyway, I came back to Korea. I deeply regretted my past mistakes, and articles were published, and I appeared on 'Knowing Brothers,'" he also expressed, "If I were to talk about that, it would take a long time. There are reasons why the show I went out on did not have good ratings; there is a bit of a story there," revealing a bittersweet smile.
Meanwhile, Shin Jeong-hwan was sentenced to eight months in prison for overseas gambling charges in 2010 and was released on parole in December 2011. In December 2014, he held his wedding with a wife who is not in the entertainment industry and in September 2017, he had a son.
