Actor Kim Soo-hyun has rebutted the false information from the 'Garo-seo Research Institute' (hereinafter referred to as Gaseyeon), announcing the strongest legal response.
On the afternoon of the 10th, Gaseyeon made unilateral claims about Kim Soo-hyun during a live broadcast on their YouTube channel, sparking controversy.
They claimed to have interviewed the family of the late Kim Sae-ron and conveyed unverified content, including allegations that Kim Soo-hyun had dated the minor Kim Sae-ron and intentionally harassed her in collaboration with a YouTuber. Related content spread rapidly across social media and online community boards, prompting Kim Soo-hyun's side to categorically deny the claims and respond.
On the same day, Kim Soo-hyun's agency, Gold Medalist, stated, "The claims made by Gaseyeon regarding actor Kim Soo-hyun through their YouTube broadcast are clearly false information."
They further stated, "Gaseyeon has made malicious claims against both us and actor Kim Soo-hyun, asserting that we conspired with a YouTuber to harass the late Kim Sae-ron, that the late Kim Sae-ron dated actor Kim Soo-hyun from the age of 15, that our agency's response to the late Kim Sae-ron's drunk driving incident was inappropriate, and that our manager has close ties with a YouTuber. All of these are lies that cannot be overlooked, so we are considering the strongest possible legal response against Gaseyeon's dissemination of false information."
Additionally, Kim Soo-hyun's side stressed, "We feel deep sorrow over the passing of the late Kim Sae-ron, who once worked with us, and we are mourning the deceased. However, the dissemination of false information by Gaseyeon mimics the behavior of what is known as 'cyber bullying' that our deceased suffered during her life, merely tarnishing not only our reputation but also that of the deceased for their own benefit. We will respond strictly to this matter and earnestly request that these baseless falsehoods are not further spread, expanded, or reproduced."
Earlier, in March of last year, Kim Sae-ron posted a photo of herself face-to-face with Kim Soo-hyun on her personal social media during a period of reflection after a drunk driving incident, but she quickly deleted it.
This led to dating rumors, and a close acquaintance of the two told OSEN, "The photo that was suddenly uploaded and deleted early this morning (24th) is not recent or current, and simultaneously, they are neither dating nor in a romantic relationship."
Kim Sae-ron formed a connection as an artist under Gold Medalist like Kim Soo-hyun, but after her drunk driving controversy, her contract expired, and she naturally parted ways with the agency.
On Feb. 16, news of the unfortunate passing of Kim Sae-ron was announced, and her former agency, Gold Medalist, expressed, "We express our deep condolences upon receiving the sad news about Kim Sae-ron. We sincerely wish for the repose of her soul."
