Actress Song Ji-eun, who was in the group Secret, shared her struggles when she transitioned to acting.
In the 'Tuesday Guest' corner of KBS1's 'Morning Yard' broadcast on the 11th, creators Park Wi and singer Song Ji-eun appeared.
Song Ji-eun, who was a 'model student' during her school years, said, "I wasn't an extraordinary model student; I was a student who worked hard at my tasks without causing big problems. I grew up dreaming of becoming a newscaster or a flight attendant. However, after entering puberty, I started to dislike studying. I wondered what I was studying for and thought I wanted to do something happy. I found happiness when I sang at church. I realized that singing made me a happy person, and that's when I began to nurture my dream of becoming a singer."
Furthermore, Song Ji-eun noted about her time in Secret, "I was an introverted girl, and the moments of being in a girl group were so fascinating. I was also incredibly grateful for those moments. Standing on stage, I received a lot of support and love from many people. Since I had been living a social life from such a young age, I feel like I spent my twenties harshly in a competitive society."
In particular, Song Ji-eun had a break due to a legal dispute with her former agency during her time with Secret, and then transitioned to acting.
Song Ji-eun explained, "After finishing a 7-year contract and re-signing, it was about a year in when I got into a legal dispute with the company. During that time, I had a break, but naturally, opportunities in acting came my way, allowing me to step into the acting field."
She continued, "I didn't even know the 'Yeon' character of acting, and I thought I could never act. While I was in Secret, I received opportunities to audition for acting roles, but one producer at the audition hurt me with words. That triggered my determination to be a proud member of Secret, and I felt that I had to stay on. I believe that was part of that producer's strategy."
