The late singer Wheesung has unexpectedly passed away, and the funeral proceedings have been postponed.
According to OSEN's report on the 11th, it has been confirmed that the funeral was delayed due to the severe shock experienced by Wheesung's mother.
Wheesung was found in a state of cardiac arrest at his home, an APT. in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, around 6:29 p.m. on the 10th. He was 43 years old.
The fire department, which was dispatched after receiving a report from the family, performed emergency measures including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but he was pronounced dead. The cause of death has not yet been revealed, and it has been reported that no signs of external intrusion or criminal suspicion have been confirmed so far.
In response, the agency TAJOYENT issued an official statement stating, "On March 10, our artist Wheesung left us. He was found in a state of cardiac arrest at his home in Seoul and was pronounced dead. The sudden news has caused deep sorrow among the bereaved family, fellow artists at TAJOYENT, and all employees. We are heartbroken to convey this sad news to all the fans who have given Wheesung their unwavering support and love. Please pray for his soul to rest in peace."
They also added, "We will provide additional information regarding the funeral. We earnestly request that unverified rumors and speculative reports be refrained from for the sake of the bereaved family, who are in great shock and sadness."
In the meantime, on the 11th, the Gwangjin Police Department in Seoul announced that they plan to request an autopsy from the National Institute of Scientific Investigation (NISI) to investigate the cause of Wheesung's death.
As a result, there were speculations that the delay in Wheesung's funeral schedule was due to the autopsy. However, according to OSEN's investigation, it has been confirmed that the reason Wheesung's funeral is not proceeding immediately is that the bereaved family is in deep sorrow and unable to conduct the funeral.
A source explained, "The late Wheesung's mother has been severely shocked." Therefore, there are reports that the funeral may not be held and may be omitted.
In relation to this, TAJOYENT stated in an additional statement, "We are unable to proceed with the funeral due to the great shock and sadness of the bereaved family from the sudden sad news. The bereaved family plans to hold the funeral quietly attended only by family, relatives, and close friends once they are able to gather their hearts."
Meanwhile, tributes from colleagues in the entertainment industry continue following the sudden news of the late Wheesung. Artists such as Yoon Min-soo, Verbal Jint, Ha Ri-su, Paloalto, Lee Chang-min of 2AM, Jo Kwon, Changmo, Haengju, Greg, EXID's Hae-rin, and Ok Ju-hyun expressed great sadness and condolences over the news of his passing. At a production presentation for KBS2's "The Seasons - Park Bo-gum's Cantabile" held the same afternoon, the event's host journalist Lee Ye-won conveyed, "Before we start the event, there was sad news about singer Wheesung.
