The expectations for 'World of Street Woman Fighter' have been revealed.
Set to premiere in May, Mnet's 'World of Street Woman Fighter' (directed by Kwon Young-chan and Choi Jung-nam, hereafter 'World of Suwpa (WSWF)') is the third season of 'Street Woman Fighter,' which gained popularity in South Korea in 2021. This season expands the concept to a national competition, where top crews consisting of elite members from each country will come together to determine the true world-class dance crew.
According to Mnet, 'World of Suwpa' is currently in full preparation. Choi Jung-nam, the director of 'World of Suwpa,' which is being touted as one of the most anticipated projects of the first half of this year due to the national competition format of the mega hit 'Suwpa,' shared points of anticipation to make 'World of Suwpa' more enjoyable during an insight talk held on the 6th at the CJ ENM center in Mapo, Seoul.
Given that 'Suwpa' is known for its friendships and relationships among dancers, it is natural to be eager about what kind of compelling narratives will unfold. Amid growing interest in the lineup of representatives from various countries shrouded in mystery, Choi Jung-nam noted, "I was worried about whether there would be stories that dancers from different countries could share together, but contrary to that concern, those in professional positions are often meeting at many competitions, and there are already many stories formed that we don’t know about." He added, "I think it will be a story created not only by domestic dancers but also by overseas dancers, so I hope you focus on this point."
The viewing experience has also been enhanced. With dancers from various countries gathering, a diverse celebration of styles is expected to capture the audience's attention. Choi Jung-nam stated, "The overseas dancers we’ve only seen as references have now become the protagonists of our program," and added, "If you look at the outfits, hair, and makeup sense of global dancers, you’ll enjoy the program even more." Furthermore, international location shoots for mega crew missions are anticipated to provide viewers with more colorful experiences than ever.
Facing new challenges, Choi Jung-nam remarked, "Every time we do the next season, it becomes more challenging due to the achievements of the previous season. There have been times when my ambitions grew, too," adding, "Each time, I tried to revisit the stories of the protagonists of the program. I will turn anxiety into passion and present a wonderful show." Aiki, who joined Team Korea in 'World of Suwpa,' also participated in the insight talk and expressed her determination, saying, "My having red hair means I’m serious about this."
Meanwhile, this insight talk was held as part of the final journey of the private special exhibition 'House of the Visionary: Story to Culture,' organized by CJ ENM to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its cultural business. It featured Kim Shin-young (CP) and Choi Jung-nam (CP), the creators of a program that will open a new chapter in CJ ENM’s global music business in 2025. They shared sincere thoughts based on keywords that embody CJ ENM's creative capabilities, such as 'challenge and growth,' 'consolidation and expansion,' 'immersion and enthusiasm,' and 'original newness.'
