Actors Choi Yena, Han Seong-min, Jeong Min-kyu, and Eunchan heightened expectations for "Villain's Country."
The new KBS 2TV sitcom "Villain's Country" (directed by Kim Young-jo, Choi Jeong-eun, written by Chae Woo, Park Kwang-yeon), set to premiere on the 19th, showcases the sometimes rough yet warm daily lives of K-jumma sisters and their quirky family.
In the drama, Choi Yena plays the role of Kwon-hee, a guest of Oh Nara (played by Oh Nara), while Han Seong-min plays the eldest sibling, Seo In-na, of Oh Nara and Seo Hyun-cheol (played by Seo Hyun-cheol). Jeong Min-kyu portrays In-na's younger brother, Seo Young-hoon. Eunchan delivers a great performance as Song-gang, the eldest son of Oh Yu-jin (played by So Yu-jin) and Song Jin-woo (played by Song Jin-woo).
Choi Yena recalled the moment she first checked the script, saying, "I was drawn to the Kwon-hee character because she is charming and has a lot in common with me. The director noted that rather than just acting as Kwon-hee, it would be great if Choi Yena could embody Kwon-hee and naturally capture her own charm and essence." She continued, "To become Kwon-hee, I also learned to play an instrument. I was quite surprised as I had never seen a contrabass before, but I received lessons on how to hold the instrument and play it. Additionally, since Kwon-hee is skilled at playing both contrabass and piano, I focused on practicing by taking lessons whenever I could. I believe viewers will appreciate the character's diverse charm."
Meanwhile, Han Seong-min chose three keywords to describe the Seo In-na character: "MZ," "bouncy ball," and "love." He stated, "I think Seo In-na is probably the most MZ-filled character in the work. Trendy and having a clear personal style, In-na has a personality like a bouncy ball that can bounce anywhere, making her actions unpredictable to outsiders. However, she actually moves according to her distinct values," adding that "all her actions are underlined by love. Although she might seem rough and free-spirited on the outside, ultimately she is a character full of affection for those around her."
Jeong Min-kyu and Eunchan pointed out that the highlights of "Villain's Country" are "the chemistry between family members and the new fun that emerges in each episode," sparking curiosity about the production. The two commented, "If you focus on the relationships between the characters, you will better understand their thoughts and actions, and you'll be able to fully immerse yourself in the story." In particular, Eunchan said, "Every time we shoot together, it's so much fun and new. When I ponder how to create a better picture while synchronizing, I sought advice from my seniors Oh Nara, So Yu-jin, Seo Hyun-cheol, and Song Jin-woo. They always provided warm guidance, which was a great help," expressing gratitude.
Choi Yena expressed her appreciation for the atmosphere on set, saying, "I wonder if it's okay to be so well taken care of. The senior actors take such good care of us. Senior Oh Nara not only helps me with acting but also incorporates gestures from my song 'Nemo Nemo' into ad-libs, so I have received a lot of love as both Kwon-hee and Yena."
Finally, Han Seong-min expressed, "I hope 'Villain's Country' will be a warm moment that makes you smile and sometimes provides comfort, just like my school days." Jeong Min-kyu added, "I want to create moments that bring laughter to viewers by recalling funny scenes from the production," and both Choi Yena and Eunchan wished, "I hope 2025 will be filled with good things and happy days. We ask for a lot of viewership and love," encouraging viewers to watch the show.
