The new daily drama 'Catch the Big Wave' on KBS 1TV, set to premiere in April, tells the story of three friends with varying financial statuses—those with money, those without, and those who wish to have money—and the challenges they and their families face as they embark on a tumultuous growth journey.
'Catch the Big Wave' is drawing attention even before its broadcast with a dazzling lineup of actors known for their deep acting skills, including Son Chang-min, Sunwoo Jae-duk, and Park Sang-myeon, along with Lee Ah-hyun and Oh Young-sil. It is a collaboration between director Park Man-young, recognized for his directorial prowess in various genres such as 'Three Siblings Brave the World,' 'Manhole: Create a Strange Country,' 'Strange Daughter-in-law,' 'Sweet Secret,' and 'The Man of the Vineyard,' and writer Son Ji-hye, who has resonated with viewers through many family dramas like 'Strange Family' and 'Love, Love.' The story of the three friends and their families entangled with money, 'Catch the Big Wave,' is expected to provide touching moments and laughter that anyone can relate to.
Amidst this, the script reading scene for 'Catch the Big Wave' was revealed today (10th). Present at the scene were director Park Man-young, director Lee Hae-woo, and writer Son Ji-hye, along with actors Son Chang-min (playing Han Mu-cheol), Sunwoo Jae-duk (Kim Dae-sik), Park Sang-myeon (Choi Gyu-tae), Oh Young-sil (Lee Hye-sook), Ahn Yeon-hong (Hwang Geum-ok), Yeon Je-hyung (Kim Seok-jin), Lee So-won (Han Seo-woo), Kim Hyun-ji (Kim Ah-jin), Park Ji-sang (Han Tae-ha), Park Se-kyung (Park Bok-ja), Lee Seung-hyung (Choi Jin-tae), Kim Min-seok (Heo Gwang-sik), Gong Ye-ji (Kim Mi-jin), Seo Young (Jang Mi), Joo Ji-a (Park Ye-won), Ahn Joon-seo (Choi Min-yong), and Han Si-ah (Heo Ji-woo), all of whom will lead the project.
In an energetic atmosphere, Son Chang-min, Sunwoo Jae-duk, and Park Sang-myeon portrayed the three friends Mu-cheol, Dae-sik, and Gyu-tae, who once were inseparable from their childhood but now find themselves in a complex hierarchy, showcasing their acting talents through an interplay of cold and warm emotions. Their irreplaceable performances and perfect chemistry brought laughter to the set. The actors’ enthusiastic performances engrossed the audience, making their first meeting seem flawless.
Oh Young-sil, playing Dae-sik's wife Hye-sook, vividly portrayed the reality of a K-mom sacrificing for her family with her relatable acting. Ahn Yeon-hong, transformed into the owner of Café Dandelion, brightened the atmosphere on set with her lively performance. Lee Ah-hyun, who could not attend the script reading, noted, "The atmosphere feels like we’ve been shooting together for one or two months already," showcasing remarkable teamwork.
Furthermore, Yeon Je-hyung, Lee So-won, Kim Hyun-ji, Park Ji-sang, Park Se-kyung, Lee Seung-hyung, Kim Min-seok, Gong Ye-ji, Ahn Joon-seo, and Han Si-ah, along with Son Chang-min and Seo Young, presented 'character-perfect performances' that heightened expectations for the upcoming broadcast.
After finishing the script reading, Son Chang-min remarked, "The fate of the three friends divided by money and their families' growth stories are the key watching points. The twists surrounding Mu-cheol's story are also thrilling," and added, "As the actors are working closely together during filming, we ask for your high expectations."
Meanwhile, the new daily drama on KBS 1TV, 'Catch the Big Wave,' a collaboration of skilled director Park Man-young, talented writer Son Ji-hye, and renowned actors, is set to premiere in April as a follow-up to 'Let's Get Married!'
