Actress Han Seung-yeon revealed her candid thoughts on dating and marriage.
Han Seung-yeon had a closing interview for the TVING original "Chunhwa Love Story" (written by Seo Eun-jung, directed by Lee Kwang-young) at a cafe in Seogyo-dong, Mapo District, Seoul, on the 10th.
"Chunhwa Love Story" is a romantic historical drama that unfolds as the capital city buzzes with the bold erotic story collection "Chunhwa Love Story," following the princess Hwari (Go Ara), who failed in her first love and declares that she will personally find her fiancé, getting embroiled with the capital's top playboy Hwan (Jang Ryul) and the best groom candidate Jang-won (Kang Chan-hee).
Han Seung-yeon portrayed the character Lee Ji-won, a daughter from a noble family, depicting another royal romance. The character Lee Ji-won, played by Han Seung-yeon, is the sister of the best groom candidate Lee Jang-won in the capital and the daughter of the prestigious Lee Jae-sang, raised with high self-esteem in a prominent family. While she is straightforward about her intentions and confident, she is shy and reserved when it comes to relationships, often leaving her partners in suspense.
From carefree college students to ambitious concubines, Han Seung-yeon has captivated viewers with her charming allure, conveying the resolute determination of her character with a firm gaze and tone. Especially during a time when women struggled to voice their opinions, she flexibly portrayed a strong female figure, playing a key role in leading women’s narratives.
Regarding her sync rate with the character Lee Ji-won, Han Seung-yeon said, "I am extremely cautious when it comes to dating. Recently, there was a blind date story introduced in 'Modern People Mystery,' but I am someone who finds blind dating impossible. They say you should meet three times, but even after three meetings, I just don’t know. Perhaps it’s because I have only seen people I've known since childhood while working. I tend to be careful and prefer long-term relationships. I don’t have the impulsive side like Ji-won."
Han Seung-yeon, who is cautious about meeting someone, noted, "(That doesn't mean) I am against marriage. I think I might get married someday. It is also the age to consider marriage. It should happen, right? My social circle is narrow. It seems that it’s not easy for people to approach me. Usually, I get contacted through acquaintances, and since I tend to be shy, I think I need to put in more effort to succeed in relationships."
Perhaps due to this caution, Han Seung-yeon has never been embroiled in dating rumors since her debut. She explained, "I have never had dating rumors since my debut, but I have no desire to reveal it. I am a person, so I must have dated. I wanted to separate my private life a lot. Work is work, and personal life is personal life. I tend to be more cautious to distinguish between when I am recognized and when I am a regular person."
In particular, Han Seung-yeon shared, "It's not that I prefer dating someone from the same industry, but the boundaries are really limited. I feel that a 'natural relationship' might be nice within that range, but I think I need to make an effort. My ideal type is a friend who doesn’t enjoy drinking and hanging out with friends much. It would be great if they enjoy exercising together because I like scuba diving. I hope we can enjoy hobbies together."
