The title track 'Same Age' is music that is true to us. We worked on it excitedly, and as a result, we have completed an honest album.
The group Seventeen's same-age friends Hoshi and Woozi will release their first single 'BEAM' today at 6 p.m. All the songs, including the title track, were completed with the participation of the two. They are expected to leap as representatives of the '96 line,' incorporating originality and self-love in their new work.
The two 'Same Age' music video teaser videos, sequentially released on the 8th and 9th, contained snippets of the new song's sound and performance, immensely raising expectations for the activities of Hoshi and Woozi. Lyrics rich in self-love such as, 'Wait a minute, it's raining,' and 'Try it like us, same age' captivated listeners quickly with the contrasting charms of the two members' voices. The choreography, where Hoshi and Woozi do a high-five and link arms, showcases their 'true friendship chemistry.'
Armed with innovative music and a distinctive aura, Hoshi and Woozi shared their thoughts through Pledis Entertainment ahead of the new album release.
Q. How do you feel about releasing 'BEAM'?
Hoshi: I've been with Woozi since we were kids. I've always thought about wanting to do unit activities together, and I'm thrilled to be able to present 'BEAM' like this. Since we've incorporated the music we want to do, we plan to enjoy the stage while actively promoting.
Woozi: I'm happy to be releasing a new album with my closest friend in life. We worked on it excitedly and fun, so I believe we have created an honest album.
Q. What about the title track 'Same Age'?
Hoshi: I thought, 'This is truly a song that's like us!' Whenever Woozi and I hear a song we like, we dance and play together. We worked on the new songs with a genuine love for music.
Q. How was the collaboration with Hwang So-yoon, the frontperson of the band Seya-son and a solo artist, So!YoON!?
Woozi: It was when we were working on track 1, 'PINOCCHIO (feat. So!YoON!).' I thought it would be great to have a very expressive female vocalist participate, so I asked Hwang So-yoon for collaboration. She responded quickly and willingly. I'd like to express my gratitude to Hwang So-yoon once again.
Q. What new aspects did you discover about each other during the 'BEAM' project, and what unique area do you want to show?
Hoshi: Woozi's producing ability is already well known. This friend not only makes great music but dances well too; he is a true 'hexagonal idol!' During this activity, I plan to showcase a different side of Woozi compared to the previous 'Boo-seok-soon' album. I want to show a more free and enjoyable side.
Woozi: Since we have spent so much time together, it is hard to discover new aspects of Hoshi. The things I've seen during the new album project are already things I understand very well. I feel like I don't have any particularly unique points of my own. It's neither embarrassing nor burdensome, but I will just do my best as always.
Q. What aspects of yourself would you like to commend?
Hoshi: I think the jacket photo turned out well, and I'm satisfied with it. I'm grateful to the staff who took stunning photos. I believe I did well in my appearance. ♥
Woozi: I feel that the excitement we had in creating this album is commendable. Since it's an album released with my best friend, I think it would be good if only fun memories remain.
Q. What are the strengths of the partner that positively influenced you?
Hoshi: Woozi's determination to stick to something he's passionate about and his wise choices, which are sometimes made coolly, inspire and teach me.
Woozi: To me, Hoshi is the person most closely associated with the term 'superstar.' Hoshi's passion plays a significant role in empowering me.
Q. Since trainee days until now, have there been experiences or moments that made you love or believe in yourself more?
Hoshi: It's the CARATs (fan club name). Watching the CARATs who believe in and love me more than I do gives me strength to move forward.
Woozi: When the members need me, I feel that 'I am thought of and trusted a lot.' Those moments seem to be like a light (BEAM) for me.
Q. What was the reaction from the Seventeen members about 'BEAM'?
Hoshi: I played the new song for the members beforehand. They all really liked it and encouraged me by saying, 'The music is better than expected,' and 'Go and tear up the stage.'
Q. A message for CARATs who are waiting for 'BEAM.'
Hoshi: I will shine back on all of you with the light you've given me. I hope our music and stage can bring you a little happiness. Please take care of us during our 'BEAM' activities.
Woozi: CARATs, I hope you always stay healthy and only find happiness. ♥
