As singer Go (late) Wheesung has passed away, fellow singers and the entertainment world are also expressing their condolences.
On the afternoon of the 10th, singer and actor Harisu posted a photo of Wheesung on her personal social media and left a message saying, "I sincerely wish for the repose of the deceased."
Rapper Changmo expressed gratitude, saying, "Thank you for having such a big impact on my life with your wonderful music. Rest in peace," and paid tribute to the late Wheesung with the song 'Morning.'
Rapper Paloalto noted, "He was a promising artist loved by R&B fans since before his debut, and I even attended his first concert after his first album was released, so it's shocking and sad. Thank you for being part of my good memories during my youth with your music."
Additionally, rapper San-i wrote a tribute message saying, "Rest in peace, Hyung."
According to the agency TAJOYENT, Wheesung was found dead at home, shocking many. He was 43 years old.
TAJOYENT expressed, "We are so sorry to have to convey such heartbreaking and tragic news," adding, "On this day, our artist Wheesung passed away. He was found dead at his home in Seoul in a state of cardiac arrest. Everyone at TAJOYENT, including the bereaved family and fellow artists, is mourning the loss of the deceased with heavy hearts," and released an official statement.
They further stated, "It breaks our hearts to convey such unfortunate news to the fans who have sent abundant support and love to Wheesung. Please pray for the repose of the deceased so that Wheesung can rest comfortably," and requested, "We kindly ask that you refrain from unverified rumors and speculative reports for the family, who are engulfed in shock and sorrow. Once again, we send our deepest condolences for the last journey of the deceased."
Meanwhile, Wheesung debuted as a singer in 2002 with the release of his first album 'Like a Movie.' He received great love with numerous hit songs, starting with the mega hit 'Is It Not?' and including 'With Me,' 'Incurable Disease,' 'Love Is Delicious,' 'I Thought About Marriage,' and 'A Heart-Wrenching Story.'
However, Wheesung was indicted the following year for buying and habitually using propofol on 12 occasions from September 2019 for three months. In March 2021, he was sentenced to one year in prison, with two years of probation, but the prosecution appealed, claiming the sentence was too lenient. In the appellate hearing in October of the same year, he received the same sentence of one year in prison, two years of probation, and was ordered to pay a fine of 60.5 million won, as well as complete 40 hours of community service and 40 hours of drug therapy lectures.
Just two months after the sentencing, in December 2021, Wheesung held a Christmas concert and continued to participate in drama soundtracks, continuing his career as a singer. He later held a fan meeting and concert to commemorate his 20th debut anniversary, demonstrating his fight against depression through music. Last May, he hinted at a comeback, saying, "I'm preparing my first album REASLOW," and mentioned on the 3rd, "I'm making all tracks rated 19+. It's about 40% complete now and aiming to be released this winter," drawing attention.
In February of this year, he held a birthday celebration solo fan meeting 'Happy Whee's Day,' which sold out immediately upon ticket release, showcasing his continued popularity. He was scheduled to hold a joint concert with fellow singer KCM at the Daegu EXCO Auditorium on March 15, but tragically passed away just five days before the performance.
