Park Tae-hyun, the head of the management institutional sector at SM C&C and the father of Cosmic Girls' Subin, who is a former manager of broadcaster Kang Ho-dong, has been appointed as the new CEO.
On the 10th, SM C&C stated that it plans to appoint Park Tae-hyun as the new CEO through a board meeting scheduled for the 25th. SM C&C is a subsidiary of SM Entertainment, a comprehensive entertainment group, and serves as a comprehensive corporation for K-Culture content, operating in four major business areas: management, advertising, content, and travel. It includes personalities such as Kang Ho-dong, Jeon Hyun-moo, Seo Jang-hoon, and actor Kim Soo-ro.
Park Tae-hyun, the appointee, has built a career in the entertainment field for about 30 years since 1997 and has been overseeing management at SM C&C since 2012. He currently serves as the head of the management institutional sector and the director responsible for broadcasting media at SM Entertainment. Like Kang Ho-dong, he is a former wrestling athlete who entered the entertainment industry alongside Kang Ho-dong and has worked as his manager. He has also appeared as 'Kang Ho-dong's manager' on shows such as KBS 2TV's '1 Night 2 Days' and tvN's 'New Journey to the West.'
Last year, he appeared on TV Chosun's 'Dad and I' alongside his daughter, Cosmic Girls' Subin, attracting attention. At that time, Park Tae-hyun closely monitored Subin's broadcasts and gave her the cold-hearted advice, 'Don’t dye your hair since elderly people watch this.'
Regarding the appointee Park Tae-hyun, SM C&C explained, 'He has grown the management institutional sector to a domestic top level and was recognized for his high understanding of the company as a whole and his broad leadership across institutional sectors.' Park Tae-hyun expressed his aspirations, stating, 'Based on the management know-how I have built up, I will strive to ensure the growth of each institutional sector, including the advertising, content, and travel institutional sectors, and create synergy.'
