Choo Sung-hoon mentioned his father's passing.
In the 1st episode of the new ENA entertainment program "Choi Hwa-jung and Kim Ho-young's I missed you," broadcast on the 8th, Choo Sung-hoon and Bae Jung-nam guest starred.
When Bae Jung-nam was asked about how he became close to Choo Sung-hoon, he noted, "I've loved martial arts since I was young. I even went to watch. I saw the main event match against Dennis Kang up close. It was in 2007, but it feels vivid."
However, Choo Sung-hoon's true nature felt like "the local brother." Choi Hwa-jung also strongly agreed, adding that she watched Choo Sung-hoon's personal channel from start to finish and noted, "It's so familiar that it feels a bit strange now."
Choo Sung-hoon recalled the time he experienced his father's passing. He explained, "I received a call suddenly while I was in Korea. He apparently had a heart attack. Of course, I was shocked. By the time I arrived, he had already passed away. I was glad I could at least see his last face."
He said, "I started judo when I was 3 years old. My father probably tied my first judo belt. When he passed away, I dressed him in my judo uniform and tied the belt around his waist. I thought, 'So this is how it feels.' It wasn't sad; it was a good opportunity." Choo Sung-hoon added, "The Asian Games held great significance for me. My father was the happiest during that time. I made sure to include the gold medal so that he could take it with him."
Choo Sung-hoon expressed, "I learned many things from my father, but there is one thing that is 'obvious,' right? He told me, 'Don't take the obvious for granted.' Thinking of his passing as something obvious makes my heart feel a bit at ease, actually. I think it's nice that he passed while enjoying golf. In its own way, I think it's good."
When asked if there is something he wants to challenge in the future, Choo Sung-hoon replied, "I want to get a motorcycle license and become a racer. I also want to go on a world tour on a cruise."
