Actor Lee Ji-hoon praised the producer Ma Dong-seok of the film 'APT.'
Lee Ji-hoon recently met with OSEN to celebrate the opening of 'APT.' and said, "It was the best set. Producer Ma Dong-seok made it that way. I was surprised by his presence since it was the first time I saw him, but he had a lot of wit. He called each actor by name and pointed out what he liked about each of them. It was a day of shooting that could have been tense, but he managed to take care of both the staff and the actors on his own. I understood why people call him 'Marvelous Ma Dong-seok.'" He praised Ma Dong-seok.
'APT.', which was released on the 26th of last month, depicts the story of a laid-off worker named Mirror, who seeks out justice by investigating neighbors to find out the source of the floor noise that resonates through the apartment at 4 a.m. Lee Ji-hoon plays the role of a divorced lawyer and single dad, Do-on, who is the younger brother of Mirror (played by Kyung Soo-jin), who is overwhelmed by battling injustices throughout the neighborhood.
Ma Dong-seok, who established the production company Big Punch Pictures in 2018, has created various works including the mega-hit series 'Crime City,' 'The Wilderness,' and 'Akkuchung.' This time, his choice is the mystery comedy thriller 'APT.' Previously, Ma Dong-seok said, "I want the audience to leave the cinema feeling happy after watching the movie. 'APT.' is also well-balanced between drama and comedy, so many audiences should enjoy it."
Lee Ji-hoon stated, "On the last day of the premiere, after it ended, we had a dinner, and he embraced me saying, 'You really did well,' 'You exceeded 100% and did 200%,' and 'Thank you for doing so well beyond the role.' I almost cried. He is someone who started from small roles and has come this far. He walked the path I want to go. It moved me greatly when such a senior embraced me and said those words. I don't know if I can be a senior like him, but he made me want to be a warm senior who can embrace the juniors." He fondly recalled that moment.
He added, "He looked for all my performances and asked the directors I have worked with. He even said, 'I was right about my thoughts.' I told him that I want to act with him. I said that if he calls me for any role, I would drop everything and go to any project where I could act with him. He said, 'I have been thinking about everything.' I have been in contact with him continuously. He said he would call me, so I am waiting," and he smiled.
The film 'APT.' is set against the familiar backdrop of an apartment and deals with relatable floor noise issues. Including Lee Ji-hoon, who is making a comeback to the screen after about a year, attractive actors like Kyung Soo-jin, Ko Gyu-pil, Kim Joo-ryeong, Choi Yoo-jeong, Jung Hee-tae, and Park Jung-hak have teamed up. It was released on February 26 and is gaining word of mouth among audiences.
