'Mickey17,' released on the 28th of last month, is about a consumable called Mickey (played by Robert Pattinson) who is sent into dangerous situations and faces the 17th death. While he is believed to be dead, 'Mickey 18' is printed, leading to unpredictable events. As of the 9th, the film has surpassed 2 million cumulative viewers in South Korea.
Based on the science fiction novel 'Mickey 7' by American author Edward Ashton, director Bong Joon-ho adapted the script and directed the film himself. It is the director's first new work in six years since winning the Palme d'Or and four Academy Awards for 'Parasite' and is his third overseas project following 'Okja' and 'Snowpiercer.'
Robert Pattinson portrays Mickey Van, who, unable to withstand threats from a loan shark, flees to the ice planet Niflheim. He escapes to Niflheim to evade the loan sharks but finds himself repeatedly facing the horrific death as he is sent to work on 'human printing.'
Additionally, Mark Ruffalo plays the dictatorial politician Kenneth Marshall aboard the spaceship aiming for space colonization, Naomi Ackie plays Nasha, Mickey's only lover who protects him on Niflheim, and Steven Yeun acts as Timmo, a friend who betrays the excessively kind Mickey.
