The series 'Newtopia,' which is gaining attention as a full-fledged zombie drama, has ramped up the pace. Jisoo faced off against a horde of zombies wielding a massive chainsaw, while Park Jung-min teamed up with Kim Joon-han to continue their desperate escape operation. With rising tension amid ongoing crises, the series increasingly captures the thrill of zombie dramas.
The sixth episode of the Coupang Play series 'Newtopia' (written by Hanjin Logistics and Ji Ho-jin, directed by Yoon Sung-hyun) has been released on the 7th, captivating viewers with its fast-paced development and dynamic zombie action. Starting to pick up speed from the fifth episode, it has enhanced excitement and entertainment. The unique 'gore' of zombie dramas combined with the comedic twists of 'Newtopia' simultaneously offers tension and intrigue.
Heading toward the tower, Yeong-joo (played by Jisoo) and Jin-wook (played by Kang Young-seok) were robbed of their car by angry people on the road and had to head toward the subway. Yeong-joo and Jin-wook tried to board the subway by weaving through the crowd gathered at the station but lost each other's hands amidst the chaos and fell apart.
And the moment the subway arrived at the station, people trying to board first pushed each other, causing the screen door to break, leading to an accident where countless people fell onto the tracks. As a result, Yeong-joo, separated from Jin-wook, witnessed a subway filled with zombies in fear and faced a crisis while trying to help an elderly woman bitten by a zombie. Jisoo captured Yeong-joo's emotional change as she was engulfed in confusion and fear after parting ways with Jin-wook, yet determined to survive.
At the hotel, Aaron Park (played by Kim Joon-han) donned a unique armor and confronted a horde of zombies. Aaron Park loaded his Takachong to fight against the zombies dirtying the hotel. Jae-yoon (played by Park Jung-min) also boarded the elevator after reorganizing his team and encountered Aaron Park. They had a conflict upon discovering that Aaron Park had been bitten by a zombie, and at that moment, blood dripped from the elevator ceiling, attacking Jae-yoon's team.
Amid the zombie attack, Jae-yoon's team scattered again. Jae-yoon managed to take shelter in a room with the help of In-ho (played by Lim Seong-jae), while Kyung-sik (played by Kim Jeong-jin) remained cautious of Aaron Park and left him among the horde of zombies. Ultimately, it seemed like Aaron Park was about to give up among the encroaching zombies, but he survived as they did not bite him. Aaron Park informed Jae-yoon that they could go down through the ventilation duct without using the hallway.
As Jae-yoon's team finished preparing to go down through the ventilation duct according to Aaron Park's plan, Yeong-joo, isolated in the subway, emerged wielding a massive chainsaw to genuinely engage in zombie action in order to reach Jae-yoon. Tension persisted as both Jae-yoon's team and Yeong-joo found themselves in peril throughout.
'Newtopia' has heightened immersion with relentless developments from the fifth episode, where a full-on rush and struggle began, to the sixth episode. It vividly unfolds the stories of Jae-yoon and Yeong-joo battling against hordes of zombies in a tower and subway filled with chaos, while also incorporating comedic elements to add a fresh sense of entertainment.
Interestingly, while the zombie drama is serious in its essence, the comedic elements are presented in a cheerful and humorous manner. 'Newtopia' draws viewers in with its unique charm by faithfully adhering to the essence of zombie dramas while mixing in entertainment.
As the pace picks up, voluntary word-of-mouth is spreading among 'zombie experts,' raising interest in the outcome of Jae-yoon and Yeong-joo's struggle against zombies.
