Choi Hwa-jeong and Kim Ho-young shared their thoughts on working together on a program after leaving the radio.
On the afternoon of the 7th, the production presentation for ENA's new entertainment program 'Choi Hwa-jeong and Kim Ho-young's I Missed You' took place at the Brookfield Hall in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. The presentation was attended by Choi Hwa-jeong, Kim Ho-young, ENA's Ahn Je-min, and In & In's Kim Hee-dong, who shared their thoughts.
'Choi Hwa-jeong and Kim Ho-young's I Missed You' (hereinafter 'I Missed You') is a talk show featuring food and philosophy, where the comfortable big sister Choi Hwa-jeong and the gourmet Kim Ho-young invite stars to their favorite restaurants and share meals and encouragement.
On that day, Choi Hwa-jeong said, "As we do 'I Missed You' together, it actually becomes a topic to discuss when we want to know someone's favorite restaurants and whether the food is genuinely good or not. When dating, the level of a man's knowledge of restaurants can determine whether the date becomes boring or continues well. Having a delicious meal with someone you miss is valuable enough to take time for, whether it’s a program or not. We go to find star restaurants, be they classic or pricey, or street food and eat. When we eat something delicious, the conversation flows easily. When there are lights in the studio, it can become stiff, but eating something tasty brings out lively conversations. I hope this program preserves that naturalness. I feel more comfortable while filming, and I hope it feels less like a talk show and more like chatting with a really close person."
He continued, "Ho-young matches so well that he often hints in a direction, so Ho-young just follows after him. That chemistry makes filming feel lighter. Although there is pressure for the program to do well, it’s a program where we joyfully go to find star restaurants and chat without pressure. I hope everyone looks forward to it a lot."
Kim Ho-young said, "It's about sharing experiences and stories with stars I've wanted to meet. I love chatting and eating, and I’ve long had a desire for talk shows since I was a young child. I’m so happy to be able to work with Choi Hwa-jeong, who has shown great chemistry with me on the radio for a long time. In actuality, while filming, the atmosphere is so natural that you forget you’re filming a broadcast. The guest, who is a star, invites us to their house to eat. We are doing it comfortably. I hope that not only we but also the viewers feel the comfort and joy we experience on set through the media."
In particular, the two previously appeared together in the last broadcast of 'Choi Hwa-jeong's Power Time,' which Choi hosted for 27 years and 6 months. Choi Hwa-jeong revealed, "At that time, Ho-young helped me so much that I got through it well. I have a habit of being unable to speak when I get choked up, but he is a reliable junior. I was extremely happy to be able to do this together this time."
She added, "In fact, nobody has ever asked me who I wanted to work with. I’m really glad that I get to work with Kim Ho-young for this program. First of all, our chemistry matches so well. I think Ho-young lifts the mood; he’s always bright and energetic, but he also pays attention to details behind the scenes. It seems like it’s innate, whether it’s in broadcasting or anything else. During my last broadcast, when I was extremely choked up, Ho-young was the one who supported me, and I think many people picked up on that subtly. Apart from this program, we’ve received quite a few proposals for other programs based on that chemistry."
Kim Ho-young said, "I cautiously think that the moment when Hwa-jeong noona did her last radio show had the biggest influence on me. We had been working together for several years, just doing a weekly corner, but the chemistry we displayed in private was really felt by the directors, writers, and listeners who had been present, and they seemed to be quite impressed and taken aback by it. I think that part has spread a lot. For me, it's unconditional. No matter who does it, I would work hard, but working with Hwa-jeong noona makes my heart so comfortable because of our chemistry. When a conversation flows well, it’s funny. If someone says something and you don’t understand their intent, it’s not fun, but we understand each other well. I expect that chemistry as well, and I think the producers are also hoping for that 'genuine friend chemistry' or 'real sibling chemistry.'"
Meanwhile, 'Choi Hwa-jeong and Kim Ho-young's I Missed You' will premiere on the 8th at 9:40 p.m.
