Actress Lee Ha-nui has denied the tax evasion allegations again.
On the 7th, Lee Ha-nui's agency, Team Hoff, stated in a press release, "Lee Ha-nui has fulfilled her tax obligations in compliance with laws and procedures as a citizen of the Republic of Korea." They added, "The income tax assessment resulting from this tax audit stems from a difference in legal interpretation about whether the income of an artist with a corporate business should be paid under corporate tax or income tax."
Team Hoff also noted, "Lee Ha-nui's tax audit has concluded with an income tax assessment without a tax violation investigation, and I can clearly state that there were no findings of tax evasion or tax fraud including failures to report income related to entertainment activities or false expense claims during the audit period."
Lee Ha-nui underwent a non-regular consolidated tax audit for corporate business artists at the Seoul Regional Tax Service last year and is reported to have paid an additional tax of 6 billion won during this process. When suspicions arose that he had intentionally omitted taxes, he clarified on the 17th of last month, "I have nothing to do with intentional tax omission."
