Singer and actress IU has finished preparing to captivate viewers this spring with a unique character transformation.
IU will play the role of the rebellious troublemaker "Aesoon" in the Netflix series "Trouble, Trouble" (written by Lim Sang-chun and directed by Kim Won-seok), which will premiere today at 5 p.m., showcasing a new side of her that has never been seen before.
"Trouble, Trouble" is a Netflix series that tells the adventurous life of "Aesoon," a rebellious troublemaker born in Jeju, and "Gwan-sik," a clueless troublemaker, in comparison to the vibrant seasons. This work, created in collaboration with writer Lim Sang-chun of "When the Camellia Blooms" and "Fight for My Way," and director Kim Won-seok of "Misaeng," "Signal," and "My Mister," captures the essence of people who lived from the 1960s to 2025.
IU is expected to display her diverse charm as a dreamy literary girl who grew up in Jeju and shows her courageous side by not backing down in any situation, playing the role of the rebellious troublemaker "Aesoon." Director Kim Won-seok, who reunited with IU after "My Mister," noted, "You will be able to experience all the charms of IU that you have seen thus far all at once."
During the production presentation, director Kim Won-seok highlighted IU's casting background, stating, "From a coy appearance to a sorrowful look, to moments when tears fall, I couldn't think of any other actor who could embody the image of 'Aesoon' other than IU," emphasizing that she was his first choice.
IU also revealed her special affection for "Aesoon" at the production presentation. She said, "Aesoon has a lot of tears, a lot of laughter, and a lot of dreams," and noted, "Aesoon is a character that is very similar to me," heightening expectations for her role as "Aesoon." She mentioned, "Even if I could go back in time and have another chance to make a choice, I would choose this work over and over again," revealing the special meaning of "Trouble, Trouble."
IU has demonstrated her immense potential and capabilities as an actor in "Dream High" and "Producer," and moved many with her profound inner performance in "My Mister." In "Hotel Del Luna," she showcased her unique presence through her character Jang Man-wol, garnering great love. With a solid filmography, IU has been steadily building her acting career, and anticipation is growing for how she will portray "Aesoon" in "Trouble, Trouble."
Meanwhile, "Trouble, Trouble," where IU transforms into the rebellious troublemaker "O Aesoon," will be released starting today, with four episodes released weekly over four weeks.
