KBS2 "Boss's Ears Are Donkeys' Ears" chef Shin Jong-cheol reveals an unexpected friendship with Sunwoo Yong-yeo and Lee Kyung-sil.
KBS 2TV "Boss's Ears Are Donkeys' Ears" (directed by Ahn Sang-eun, hereinafter referred to as "Boss's Ears") is a self-reflective program for bosses in South Korea aimed at creating a workplace where employees enjoy their jobs. In the last episode, the national rating was 5.3%, with a peak rating of 6.9%, maintaining both viewership and buzz for 144 consecutive weeks at the top of its time slot for entertainment shows, according to Nielsen Korea.
In the upcoming episode of "Boss's Ears" airing on the 9th, chef Shin Jong-cheol will host Sunwoo Yong-yeo and Lee Kyung-sil, who get along like mother and son, to evaluate the new March menu. After warmly hugging chef Shin, Sunwoo Yong-yeo introduces him to Lee Kyung-sil, saying, "You know? Our son," and adds, "I've known him for over 10 years. He feels like my son," revealing their special bond.
In response, Shin Jong-cheol notes, "Sunwoo Yong-yeo and Lee Kyung-sil are buffet experts I acknowledge. The menu they selected has become a signature dish," revealing his strong trust and relationship. Sunwoo Yong-yeo then expresses her affection, saying, "Our son is handsome," to which Shin Jong-cheol replies, "He's a handsome son," displaying a humorous exchange of self-praise.
Particularly, when it was revealed that Sunwoo Yong-yeo and Lee Kyung-sil were invited as evaluators for the March new menu, there was a strong protest in the studio. Kim Suk, Jeon Hyun-moo, and Park Myung-soo all voiced in unison, "Why weren't we invited?" and Jeon Hyun-moo strongly appealed, saying, "We need regular tastes like ours," drawing laughter.
On this day, Sunwoo Yong-yeo revealed a photo of her grandson Eden, stating, "He has grown up now. He is 9 years old." In response, Lee Kyung-sil displayed a photo of her grandson born from her estranged son Son Bo-seung due to pre-marital pregnancy, sharing her feelings about becoming a grandmother at an early age. Lee Kyung-sil expressed pride, stating, "They call me grandma these days."
As the new March menu, starting with a tuna sandwich, opens, Lee Kyung-sil, feeling disappointed by the appetizer that could fit in one bite, questions, "It can't be that this is how it keeps coming out, right?" then adds, "It's too sad to swallow," expressing expectations for the March menu course. However, dissatisfied with the small portions, such as Peking duck and lamb, Lee Kyung-sil complains, "Isn't this a child's lamb? We're not entertainers, we're workers," then further criticizes, "It wasn't like this before; the self-praise has become severe. It has changed a lot since I last saw it," leaving chef Shin Jong-cheol flustered. Park Myung-soo then remarks, "Sister, you've held back a lot right now," unable to contain his laughter.
Whether chef Shin Jong-cheol's carefully prepared March menu will succeed amid Lee Kyung-sil's sharp critiques will be revealed in the live broadcast of "Boss's Ears."
