Following singer Lee Mujin's absence from the recording of 'RAY service,' Lee Soo-geun has also not participated in the recording of KBS JOY's 'Ask Anything' as tensions between One Hundred and KBS have escalated.
The conflict between One Hundred and KBS surfaced due to Exo's Xiumin's failure to appear on KBS2's 'Music Bank.'
On 4th, One Hundred stated, 'Xiumin, who is under label INB100, is set to release a solo album on March 10. We have made several attempts to meet with the broadcasting station, but KBS has not responded to our contact and remains silent,' and added, 'KBS has unofficially conveyed that it is impossible for Xiumin to appear simultaneously on programs featuring SM Entertainment artists, such as KBS2's 'Music Bank.'
In response, KBS has stated, 'This is false,' noting that communication is ongoing; however, the absence of Lee Mujin, who is under One Hundred's subsidiary Big Planet Made Entertainment, from the KBS YouTube channel's 'RAY service' recording on the 6th has deepened the rift. It is reported that the recording on that day was conducted solely by ENHYPEN's Sunghoon.
Additionally, on the 7th, Lee Soo-geun from Big Planet Made Entertainment also took a strong stand by not participating in the recording of KBS JOY's 'Ask Anything.' The production team of 'Ask Anything' stated on that day, 'The scheduled recording has been canceled,' and added that they are 'in discussions about future schedules.'
Lee Mujin and Lee Soo-geun's teams had informed in advance of their absence, and it is not known to be a last-minute decision. In this regard, One Hundred reported to OSEN, 'We are currently unable to contact the head of the KBS entertainment center, who holds the final responsibility for our artists' appearance, and we have not been able to reach them for the past two weeks. We have conveyed this to the front-line producers multiple times, but we have yet to receive any response and have yet to meet with them.'
'We had no choice but to accept the refusal of our entire roster of artists to appear because the head of the center, who decides on the artists' appearances, is not responding, leading to the current situation,' they explained. 'If our artists were to appear at KBS while being mindful of the conditions imposed, this situation would solidify, ultimately resulting in a sustained unfair scenario.'
In contrast, regarding One Hundred's claim that KBS has blocked the appearances of its artists, KBS's Han Kyung-cheon, head of the entertainment center, noted, 'We appreciate your interest in 'Music Bank' among various music programs. There were tough times for 'Music Bank,' but I handled 99% of the casting and lineup myself. It's a matter of communication between the production team and the planning agency. We do not plan to scout other MCs for 'RAY service' until Lee Mujin returns,' and stated that the claims about communication breakdown are also untrue.
As both sides maintain their positions, the conflict is expected to persist for the time being. It remains to be seen whether the absence of recordings by One Hundred will lead to a resolution with KBS.
